CONFIGURE SERVER 2008 R2
I. Peer to Peer (P2P) network.
1. Right click LAN/netwoprk icon, Click “open network and sharing center”.
2. Click “Change adapter settings”
3. Right click “Local Area network Icon”, click Properties.
4. Click “internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
5. Click “use the following IP address”.
6. Assign IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and prefered DNS server.
7. Click OK, click close Disable/enable LAN adapter.
8. Go to control panel, System and security, windows firewall, turn windows firewall ON or OFF.
9. Click “turn off windows firewall under Home or work network location settings and public network
location settings.
10. Ping the following:
a. Router
b. Access point
c. Client
d. Server
e. Wireless device
II. Installing Active Directory Domain Services on Windows Server
2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit
1. Click start, administrative tools and server manager window.
2. Click roles, click add roles, click next.
3. Select Active Directory Domain Services, Click next
4. Click “Add required features”
5. Click next.
6. Click “Install”.
7. Click “Close”
III. Install Active Directory Domain Services (DCPROMO)
1. Open “server Manager Window.
2. Click “next”
3. Click next
4. Select “Create a new domain in a new forest, click next.
5. Enter the domain name (oloroso.local) click next.
6. Click next.
7. Select Windows server 2008 r2, click next.
8. Click yes.
9. Click next
10. Enter the password “Css2017” , click next.
11. Click next
12. Check the box under “Reboot on Completion”.
13. After the computer restarts, return the Preferred DNS server address.
IV. Installing DHCP Server on Windows Server 2008 R2
1. Open Server Manager window
2. Click Roles, Click Add roles, Select DHPC Server
3. Click next.
4. Click next
5. Click Validate, Click next.
6. Click next.
7. Click Add
8. Enter the Scope name (example- “oloroso”)
9. Enter the starting IP address and the Ending IP address. Click ok, Click next.
10. Select Disable DHCPv4, click next
11. Select “use the current credentials”
12. Click install.
V. Set up Remote Desktop Services on Windows 2008 R2
1. Launch Server Manager, and select "roles." Once the roles manager screen is up, check the box for
Remote Desktop Services
2. Click next
3. Select /Click “Install Remote Desktop Session Host anyway”, Click next.
4. Check the box under “remote Desktop Session Host”, Click next.
5. Click next.
6. Select “Per User”, Click next.
7. Click next.
8. Check the boxes under Audio, Click next.
9. Click Install
VI. Install Print and Document Services
1. Open Server Manager Window, Check the box under “Print and Document Services, Click next.
2. Click next
3. Check the box under print server, Click next
4. Click Install
5. Click close.
VII. Creating Users and Folder Redirection
1. Go to computer, Open drive C:\(system partition), Create folder.
2. Rename the folder (Shared folder)
3. Right click the folder, click properties
4. Click sharing
5. Select “everyone” click share
6. Click done
7. Copy the network path
8. Click start, click administrative tool, click group policy management.
9. Click the forest/domain
10. Right click the domain, click edit.
11. Expand to Policies, windows settings.
12. Folder redirection, right click on desktop.
13. Click properties
14. Paste the network root path on the space allocated for root path under target folder location, Click ok.
15. Do same procedure with document folder.
16. Under the target in desktop and document properties, select basic redirect everyone,s folder to the same
location, click yes.
17. Click ok, click close.
18. Go to start, administrative tools, active directory users and computers.
19. Double click users
20. Right click the administrator, click copy
21. Enter the complete name of the user (to be created) click next.
22. Enter the password of the user, confirm the password, select password that never expire, click next.
23. Click finish
24. Do the same procedure to the second user.
VIII. To create Organizational Unit (OU)
1. Right click the domain, expand to new, expand to organizational unit.
2. Enter the OU, click ok.
3. Under the OU, Create/expand to new user.
4. Enter the complete name and password of the user. Click next
5. Click finish
6. Open the shared folder on drive c:\ on my computer.
