Dear Diary,

Today is an amazing day! Not only did I meet a lot of new friends, but I also learnt surfing!

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, I haven’t been to the beach for nearly a year. To my luck, the
epidemic had become less severe so I can go to the beach to have fun! I can’t wait to jump into the
water to swim, kayaking in the ocean or enjoy the sun bath. My father suggested to go to Cheung Sha
Beach in Lantau Island, then he drove his car carried me and mother as well as my brother to the beach.
I was very exciting about the day spending in the beach!

When we arrived, we soon found out the beach is filled a lot of people and we only found a small space
just enough for 4 of us to fit in. Then we put a mat on to the ground and laid our bags on it. My father
went to a store nearby to lend some items. Surprisingly, my father not only bought us sun umbrella, but
also a surfboard for me and my brother! I remember I told my father that I want to learn surfing
repeatedly, but he just rejected and said he had no time to teach us. We immediately took the surfboard
and rushed to shore and left mom alone on the beach to enjoy the sunshine.

After we came down to the shore, my father taught us basics of surfing before we get into the water. In
fact, it’s much harder to surf than we expected. We rarely catch waves or successfully stand up on the
board. Seeing us failing, the surfers nearby are so kind to point out some of our mistakes and
demonstrated right posture to me and my brother. Soon we improved dramatically, and other surfers
gave us a big applause. Now I can surf along with others! All of us in the ocean had a great afternoon!

The sun is going to set then it’s time for us to pack our belongings, I was exhausted yet satisfied, I learnt
one of my favorite sports and meet a lot of new friends. I hope I can go to the beach more often! Good
night, Diary.
