PROJECT TRAIN
A Narrative Report
Teacher training is important for both experienced and those teachers who are novice to
the teaching profession. Teachers must get a hang of innovative pedagogy, interactive
assessment techniques and use of differentiation in the classroom to enliven the teaching-
learning process.
Project Teachers Related Activities to Intensify their kNowledge and skills ( TRAIN) at Karangalan
Elementary School (KES) was launched to intensify the opportunities of teachers to learn beyond of
what is expected to them, particularly now that Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic sent educational
institutions scrambling to move into a distance learning.
To improve/enhance teachers’ competencies, knowledge and skills through trainings, insets, LAC
and sharing of experiences through demonstration which will really help increase the performance of
learners, is the main objective of this project.
Teachers are mentored by the master teachers, Myrna C. Ramos, Janet D. Tambongco, and Jelyne
Estrella who happens to be the proponent of the Project TRAIN.
They provided ample opportunities for teachers which equipped them not only to enhance their
capabilities in the field of teaching but holistically.
Project TRAIN believes that if teachers are trained holistically, they can provide a learning
experiences that develop not only the cognitive aspects of the pupils but the totality of their
personality no matter what challenges occurs, which is anchored on the Batas Pambansa Blg. 232 or
Education Act of 1982 to wit:
“Every teacher shall be accountable for the efficient and effective
attainment of specific learning objectives in pursuance of national
goals within the limits of available school resources.”
Although education takes a major hit as classrooms are forced to close and diverted into a distance
learning, teachers are still able to enhance their knowledge and skills on how to handle a very
challenging situation through the help of the various trainings of Department of Education (DepEd)
which is highly re echoed by the proponents of Project TRAIN.
Different lack sessions, like COMPETENCY-BASED TEACHING AND LEARNING, Learning
Modalities Delivery Course, Weekly Home Learning Plan seminar and training on different
modes of preparing video lessons.
The LDM2 training, had given Jelyne Estrella, Master Teacher I of KES, an opportunity to lead and
successfully mentored not only the teachers from her school but teachers on the District of Cainta like
Marick Elementary School (MES), St. Anthony Elementary School (SAES) and San Juan Elementary
School, (SJES).
Apart from providing training for teachers, Project Train also strengthens the leadership skills of the
Master Teacher by yielding technical assistance to the teachers on their Demonstration teaching.
Project TRAIN continuously provides an understanding that teaching is an evolving skill,
because a good teacher like a good student keeps on learning within the framework of
information. Teaching and learning go hand in hand & teaching is truly lifelong which
makes it important for schools to invest immensely in the professional development of
staff.
Good teacher training leads to positive learning environments that leads to happy children
who are more than willing to learn whether face to face or distance learning.
