Proposal
Rationale:
In this production I have decided to create a stop motion animation and short film, designed
for the target audience of 5 – 12. I chose to produce my production for this target audience
as I felt it would expand my technical skills in creative media. As I have no yet made a
production specifically for children only, I’m challenging myself by throwing myself in to
uncharted waters. From my previous film productions, I have developed many new skills in
terms of my filming quality, editing, and creating a strong narrative.
Within this I have found that my ability to create professional quality videography is my
strongest point, and as of this I have will be able to transfer these skills into my short film in
order to ensure my production is professional. In addition, in another previous Unit I also
made another short stop motion animation giving me experience that I can use to help me
in this project. Within this I learnt how to produce smoother looking transitions and
movement of physical objects, to stay persistent (as stop motion can be tedious), a good
understanding of FPS and lastly improved my arts and craft skills. All of which, I am able to
use in my stop motion I’ll be creating in the next few weeks.
Project concept:
For my stop motion production, I want to intrigue children ages from 5 – 12. To do so in my
animation I have decided to use clay/plasticine to create my characters to give my
production a more animative style, as children enjoy this. In addition to this, as some 12-
year olds may think they’re too old for animation I have ensured to write my production
around a message that applies to everyone in the world, in my animation this is to spread
awareness for global warming. For my short film, to ensure my target audience stayed
consistent by using a child in my production this allows those watching to relate as they are
the same age as the child in the production. As well as this, I have also made the rational
decision to involve nature in my production because it is common hobby amongst children.
Evaluation:
In these projects to ensure I evaluate this production correctly, each week I will be writing
up my progress with my production as well as anything that caused me issues that week.
This will allow me to look back over my work and fix everything I may need before going
onto the next section of the project. In addition to this, any changes made during creation I
will be taken note of in detail, as well as the reason behind it.
