Load From Two-Way Slab To Beam

The document describes the process of calculating loads from a two-way slab to a beam. It provides the dimensions and load information for a slab with a shorter span of 4m and longer span of 6m. It then shows the calculations to determine the equivalent uniform distributed load (UDL) for each span by considering the total load and geometry. The equivalent UDL is found to be W*Lx/3 for the shorter span and W*(1-(1/3)*(Lx/Ly)^2) for the longer span, where W is the total slab load in kN/m^2.

LOADS FROM TWO-WAY SLAB TO BEAM

Shorter Span lx = 4 m
Longer Span ly = 6 m
Thickness of Slab = 150 mm including Live load floor finish
D.L. of Slab = 3.75 KN/m2 As per formula
L.L. of Slab = 2 KN/m2 Shorter span load = w lx /3
2
F.F. of Slab = 1 KN/m Longer span load = w lx/2(1-(1/3)x (lx/ly)^2)
Total Load of Slab = 6.75 KN/m 2

Area of Trepezoidal = 8 m2
Area of Triangle = 4 m2
Total Load on Trepezoidal = 54.00 KN
Total Load on Triangle = 27.00 KN As per Formula. As Per STAAD
Load on Longer Span = 9.00 KN/m = 11.5 KN/m 13.5
Load on Shorter Span = 6.75 KN/m = 9 KN/m 13.5

W = U.D.L. in KN/m2
Weq = U.D.L. in KN/m
Total Load of Triangle Slab = (1/2)*L*W
=WL/2
Reaction = W L /4
Moment @ Mid span = (W L /4)*(L/2)-(1/2)*(W)*(L/2)*(L/6)
= W L2/8 - W L2/24
= W L2/ 12
Reaction of Weq Load = w L / 2
Moment of Weq @ Mid Span = w L2 / 8
By Equating Two Moment
w L2 / 8 = W L2/ 12
w = ( 2/3 ) x W
Now equating Triangular Slab Load equal to U.D.L. Load This means Convert KN/m 2 to KN/m
w= WL/2
So for making W to Weq Multiply both side by L/2
w x (L/2) = (2/3) x W *( L / 2)
U.D.L. ( in KN/m ) = W*L/3 ( in KN/m2 )
