M3 Lesson 2
Pre-task
Instruction: Write a reflection on these guide questions.
1. “What are three (3) of your personal values that you like most? Why?”
➢ I think the three personal values I liked the most would be my authenticity, honesty, and
optimism. First and foremost, authenticity means being real or true to yourself through your
thoughts, words, and actions. I can always say that I am not afraid to show who I am and be
judged by others as long as I know I am true to myself, and I am not hurting anyone. I have been
able to share my authentic self through speaking and sharing my own opinions, allowing myself
sometimes to become vulnerable and open hearted and setting boundaries and walking away
from toxic situations. Furthermore, I believe my honesty make my life easier and less
complicated and a lot more beautiful and fulfilling. I become less dependent on others and
more dependent on myself. Through 20 years of my existence, I started to love myself with all
my flaws, and I think it’s my turning point towards contentment and my inner peace. Moreover,
I think my honesty is the reason why I have built strong relationships with my family, my friends,
and other people around me because I believe it is the foundation of trust for a relationship to
function and thrive. It allows them to believe in me, in my promises and commitments. And
lastly but not the least would be my optimism. Being optimistic allows me to better handle
stressful situations that happens to my life. I am type of person who always look for the brighter
side even though life throws me difficult problems I would still stand and hope that something
good will eventually happen. My optimism helps me be happier, more successful, and of course,
healthy.
2. “What are three (3) of your personal values that you like least? Why?”
➢ I think my three personal values that I liked the least are being impulsive, anxious, and selfish
at times, I tend to become impulsive, due to my emotions, I often act without thinking
thoroughly, that sometimes it often caused me negative consequences and greater emotional
distress and regret. This is something I know I should still work on. On the other hand, I am also
often anxious every time I was not able to do something according to my plan. I am very
perfectionist that when something unexpected and out of my control happens, it often leads
me to become anxious. But since I am very resilient, I was able to manage my anxiety in my own
little ways of coping. Lastly, being fierce. Due to my brave attitude, often they think I am not
approachable, but I am not. So, I need to tone it down a little so that other won’t be intimidated
and easily reach me out for anything.
3. As an NSTP student, how would these values help/hinder you to become a leader?
➢ As NSTP student as well as a leader, my 3 favorite personal values which are authenticity,
honesty, and optimism will help me influence my members in order for us to work in harmony
and be successful together and to be able to achieve our goal for the common good. I think
what will hinder me to lead a group would be the values I think I liked the least as this will greatly
affect the whole group/team. So in order to work things out, I need to improve or get rid of
those unpleasant values and be a role model so that my members could also be inspired to do
better. To put it simply, we all have our individual differences, and in order to work
harmoniously, as a leader, I should need to take initiative to listen, pay attention and gather
their different opinions and point of views so that I will know how I will react towards it that will
be beneficial for all.
4. Which of the CEU Core Values are evident to you?
➢ Valuing others, caring for them and empowering them –this is one of the most important virtues
of CEU Core Values that are very evident to me. We as humans are very social creatures, and as
such, we frequently have strong relations, however, what clearly distinguishes us from other
creatures on this planet is our ability to value others. Sure, animals can do it occasionally,
however, what truly distinguishes us the most is our ability to appreciate another, even if they
are no longer of our blood or related to us personally. Valuing others is also a cornerstone to
success. By valuing others, we acknowledge our individual differences and see it as something
positive. It also means that we are trying to understand how others think and feel other than
just considering yourself. And through that, I can be able to empower another person, impact
and influence his/her life for the better.
