A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 9 MATHEMATICS:
THE SIX TRIGONOMETRIC RATIOS: SINE, COSINE, TANGENT, COSECANT, AND
TANGENT
I. OBJECTIVE
At the end of lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Determine the relationship between the trigonometric ratios and their
equivalence,
2. Draw triangles illustrating the six trigonometric ratios, and
3. Relate the six trigonometric ratios into real-life situations.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Triangle Trigonometry: The Six Trigonometric Ratios: Sine, Cosine, Tangent,
Cosecant, and Tangent
III. MATERIALS
Worksheet

Laptop
IV. PROCEDURE
a. Preparatory Activities
The teacher greets the students and then asks them to keep unnecessary things
from their desks.
b. Motivation
The teacher asks the students to draw a right triangle and label each part.
c. Presentation of Lesson
The teacher presents the figure of right triangle and discuss its parts.
d. Lesson Proper
In a right triangle, we can define six trigonometric ratios. Consider the right
triangle ABC below. In this triangle we let θ represent -∠B. Then the leg denoted
by a is the side adjacent to θ, and the leg denoted by b is the side opposite to θ.

e. Application
Find the six trigonometric ratios.
f. Valuing
The teacher asks the students, what is the importance of studying the six
trigonometric ratios and how it can be use in real life?
g. Generalization
The teacher asks a volunteer to summarize the lesson.
V. EVALUATION
Illustrate and draw the given triangle using a protractor and give sine, cosine and
tangent ratio of the following:
1. Angle 60°, opposite side a, adjacent side b and hypotenuse c.
2. Angle 30°, opposite side a, adjacent side b and hypotenuse c.
3. Angle 45°, opposite side a, adjacent side b and hypotenuse c.
VI. ASSIGNMENT
Determine the inverse trigonometric ratio of sine, cosine and tangent ratio using the
following information.
a c
θ
