Session Outline

Introduction and Cha-Ching Music Video

Display the money box.

Display the Cha-Ching music video: “Grow Money”.

Discussion on Concepts

Define save, afford, short-term goal and long-term goal.

Activities and Presentation

Distribute the cardboard money boxes to all students and invite them
to decorate and color it.

For older students, also distribute the saving challenge and guide
them to plan their daily saving amount in order to achieve their goals.
Invite students to share ideas.

Summary

Remind students that a good saving habit and plan will be helpful for
them to achieve their goals.

Invite students to bring home the cardboard money box for future
saving. For older students, ask them to also bring home the saving
challenge.

Preparation
Review the activities and list of materials.

Teacher will also need to bring personal money box as props.

Familiarize yourself with the concept of Save to better address possible questions
from the students. See the definition on Page 37 to help you prepare.

For visual learners, write all key terms on the board.

Arrange to distribute cardboard money boxes to students at the close of the activities.
For older aged group, also arrange to distribute the saving challenge. The money
boxes and worksheets are take-home pieces for students to share with their families.

1. Introduction and Cha-Ching Music Video 5 minutes

Greet the students and briefly recap what was discussed in their previous meeting.

Explain to students that we are going to watch a video about Save. Ask students the

Bobby needed to learn to set a short-term goal and not to get distracted; to watch
the money he earned; to give spending a break; and to put back “wants” items to
help grow his money and keep his saving plan on track.)

chose not to spend all the money he earned, so his money grew until he could
finally afford it.)
