Welcome everyone to Pisco, we are students of the Educational Institution "Bandera del Perú”,

wonderful province, ¡come with us!
Pisco is a Peruvian city, capital of the homonymous district and province in the department of Ica. It
is located 230 km southeast of Lima on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, south of the mouth of the
Pisco River.
The city includes both the town, known as Pisco-Pueblo, and the port and boardwalk, known as
"Pisco-Playa".
It currently has cotton ginning industrial activity and some other industries related to fishmeal and
fish oil, textiles, chocolates, guano from the islands, etc.
Its port, agriculture and wine and pisco industry stand out since the early years of the colonial
period. This Peruvian city appears on the first known maps of the 16th century.
Espinoza Doloriert Milhara (Plaza de Armas):
Hello, my name is Milhara Espinoza Doloriert and I am going to talk about an emblematic place for
our province, “The Plaza de Armas of Pisco”.
The Plaza de Armas of Pisco began its construction in 1689, being viceroy, the Count of Moclovoa.
Its current design begins to be built in 1953 and inaugurated on October 21, 1954. A large part of
the Plaza de Armas was destroyed due to the earthquake that occurred in 2007, however, some of
its notable structures of yesteryear still remain; while others were rebuilt in the same way as their
predecessors. Some of the objects that can be seen is the statue of the South American
revolutionary liberator José de San Martín, sculpted in bronze by the artist from Pisqueño José Luis
Peña y Peña.
In the lower part there is a bronze plaque that shows the decree with which the first flag of Peru is
created, a symbol of the Homeland, inspired by the environment and landscape of Pisco. The main
square of Pisco has become one of the favorite places for the people of Pisqueños to go out for a
while to graze or breathe some air since it is surrounded by beautiful plants and trees, thus being
one of the tourist places in Our city.
Hernandez Peña Mariajose (Iglesia de Bambú):
Hi my friends!, my name is Mariajose Hernandez Peña and I am going to talk about “La iglesia de
Bambú” or The bamboo church for you.
In 2009, the Institute of Housing, Urbanism and Construction of the San Martín de Porres (IVUC)
the construction of the Iglesia Compañía de Jesús, which was left in rubble after the earthquake.
They decided to use bamboo, a light, resistant, flexible and cheap material, for construction, as well
reducing the environmental impact of the building.
The design had to take into account the demands of resources and time of the situation, so they
decided to create the structure based on semi-porticos identical that could be prefabricated in a
workshop set up for this purpose in the small town adjacent to San Clemente. To take advantage of
natural ventilation, they included an offset between the light covering of the central nave and the
roof so that hot air can escape. The lighting penetrates through a transparent calamine and through
the interstices of the crushed cane of the ceiling.
Hernandez Queccano Raith (History of Cemetery of Pisco):
Good afternoon, my name is Raith Hernandez Queccano and I am going to talk tio you about
“Cemetary of Pisco”. In this case about his history: The General Cemetery of Pisco dates from
approximately the year 1850 and houses in its enclosure a total of almost 20 thousand remains that
rest in it.
The earthquake that occurred on August 15, 2007, left the cemetery in very poor condition, which
collapsed its buildings by 80% and therefore, it is necessary to rebuild the façade, the walls that
surround the cemetery in its as a whole, in addition to several barracks and complete pavilions such
as San Fidel, San Benigno and San Ignacio that date from 1900 and were the most affected.
On the north side of the Pisco General Cemetery rest the victims of the earthquake. On the ground,
arranged in lines, were buried the bodies of at least 250 people who died in the landslides on the
night of August 15, 2007 and in hospitals the following days. When the spaces were insufficient -
and to avoid a health emergency- they also began to bury themselves in a sandy area in the district
of Túpac Amaru Inca.
Schenone Barcena Ayleen (Myth of Cemetery of Pisco):
Hello everyone!, my name is Ayleen Luciana Schonene Barcena and today I will talk to you about
one of the most haunting myths in our city.
More than 20 years ago, specifically on June 9, 1993, everyone had their eyes on the small coastal
town of Pisco. During that day, dozens of journalists, shamans and curious people came to the
place to witness one of the most incredible supernatural events in the country: the resurrection of
Sarah Hellen, the female vampire.
According to this urban legend, Sara Hellen was a British woman who in 1913 was accused of
engaging in witchcraft and the occult. She even went so far as to say that on a trip to Transylvania,
Dracula himself seduced her and turned her into a vampire woman.
Given these facts, the residents of her native Blackburn put her on trial and sentenced her to death.
After being executed by a stake through the heart, the family was forbidden to bury her in England,
so her husband, John Roberts, took her remains away from her, where no one knew the history she
carried. on her back.
She thus reached the Peruvian coast and ended up buried in the municipal cemetery of Pisco.
However, the most terrifying thing about this story is that Sara Hellen, before dying, cursed her
executioners and promised to return from the dead after 80 years to seek revenge. That terrible
prophecy would be fulfilled on June 9, 1993.
When the day came, hundreds of people (reporters and cameramen included) approached the San
Alberto pavilion of the Pisco General Cemetery armed with crucifixes and holy water, but no Sarah
Ellen appeared. Even today, however, her niche is one of the ones that receives the most flowers
and candles. Fear is no longer the same, but you have to venerate it, just in case.
Grandez Chipana Carmen (La casa de Don José de San Martín):
Hi, my name is Carmen Grandez Chipana and I am going to talk about “La Casa of Don José de
San Martín”
Don José de San Martín was an outstanding historian of the liberation deeds of America. He arrived
at the Paracas Bay, Pisco in September 1820. He lived in this city and established his
headquarters. The house of San Martín is an asset of cultural value for the country because the
liberator settled there upon his arrival in Pisco in 1820 and it became his headquarters, from where
he planned the independence of Peru and glimpsed national symbols such as the National flag and
coat of arms.
This 17th century mansion, declared a "monument" in 1942, was one of the buildings collapsed by
the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that devastated Pisco on August 15, 2007, and a group of
professionals has been used in its reconstruction. between workers, engineers and architects, with
a total investment of about 4 million soles (about a million dollars). "One of the main points of the
reconstruction of the house is that it will present a museographic proposal that revalues the property
and, in addition, everything that has to do with life and the liberating expedition in Peru," the
statement said. he told Efe. architect and museographer in charge of the project, Ana María Lebrun.
Bautista Tenorio Ana (El Boulevard):
Hello, I am the student Ana Bautista Tenorio, this time I will tell you about a place that we Pisqueños visit
very frequently to buy in stores or walk, but previously it did not have this purpose.
El Bolevard was born with the purpose of promoting tourism in the province of Pisco (Ica), affected by the
2007 earthquake, the Southern Reconstruction Fund (Forsur) transferred more than one million nuevos soles
to the provincial municipality for the construction of a boulevard designed to promote pisco, the country's
flagship drink.
The objective was for duly recognized producers and distributors of pisco to be located on this street to offer
and disseminate this country's flagship product within a pedestrian walkway environment, so that this journey
becomes more enjoyable, comfortable and safe. , while now it has become a very busy place in which many
shops are located.
Chavarry Echevarria Daniel (Los Humedales de Pisco-Playa):
Good Afternoon everyone, my name is Daniel Chavarry Echevarria and I´m going to introduce you
to the pisco wetlands.
The freshwater wetlands of Pisco-Playa originate from the filtration of water from the Pisco River,
which accumulates as groundwater (in deposits called aquifers) that appear in the lowest terrain;
We can verify this when we dig a few meters and the water begins to emerge on the surface.
The Pisco-Playa wetlands are special places where birds eat and rest from their long journeys from
other countries, as do migratory birds. But the people who pollute these places change the look of
the wetlands; Thus, polluted water affects or kills the animals in it.
