Math Lesson Plan: Understanding Angles

The document outlines a mathematics lesson plan for grade 4 students on describing and illustrating different angles. The lesson plan includes objectives to identify and illustrate right, acute, and obtuse angles using models. Examples are provided of each angle type. Students participate in activities like classifying angle pictures, dancing to form angles, and drawing/labeling/matching angles. Formative assessment is conducted through a worksheet with questions to evaluate learning on angle identification. The overall lesson aims to build students' understanding of different angles and their application in daily life.

and Time: 7:30-8:20 AM Area:
Quarter: THIRD
I.OBJECTIVES:
A. Learning M4GE-IIIb14
Competencies/Objectives Describes and illustrates different angles (right, acute, and obtuse) using
model

The learner should be able to:

 identify different angles (right, acute, and obtuse) using models.
 illustrate different angles (right, acute, and obtuse) using models.
II. CONTENT:
Describing and Illustrating the Different Kinds of Angles
Values Integration: Spending time wisely

-Teacher will show some illustrations and let them identify the picture with its
new lesson name.
(The teacher will praise learners who answer and participate) Praising the learners

B. Establishing a purpose Motivation: The teacher will show a clock. (Showing a clock)
for the lesson

Ask:
1. What time is it now?
2. Why is it important to spend your time wisely? Within and across
ESP Integration (HOTS)
Lead pupils to discuss what they do during recess time, lunch time, etc. Emphasize the importance of
spending time wisely.
(The teacher will praise learners who answer and participate) Praising the learners
C. Presenting examples/ Presentation of Objectives:
instances of the new Describes and illustrates different angles (right, acute, and obtuse) using
lesson model M4GE-IIIb14
The learner should be able to:
 identify different angles (right, acute, and obtuse) using models.
 illustrate different angles (right, acute, and obtuse) using models.
Read the situation.
Jefhel, Sofia, and Jhanine attend dance lessons every Saturday. Jefhel
starts her lesson at 3:00p.m, Sofia at 2:00p.m and Jhanine at 12:45 p.m

Ask:
 Who attended dance lessons every Saturday?
 At what time does Jefhel start her dance lesson? How about Sofia?
Jhanine?
 If you are going to show in the clock the time their lessons start, how
will you do it? Call one representative in each group. Ask them to draw the hand
positions of the clock based on the situation given.

Discussion #1

Presentation of the topic:

Say: Now this time we will learn about different kinds of angles.
Angle - is formed when two rays meet at a common endpoint. It is
measured in degrees(˚).
Angles can be classified according to their measurements:
1. Right Angle - measures 90˚. It forms a square corner.
Examples:

2. Acute Angle - measures less than 90˚. It is smaller than a right angle.
Examples:
3. Obtuse Angle - measures more than 90˚ but less than 180˚.
Examples:

D. Discussing new Say: Let’s have a game. Using the cutouts pictures. Let the students
concepts and classify objects that show an acute angle, right angle and obtuse angle.
Expected Answers:
Practicing new skills #2
ACUTE ANGLES RIGHT ANGLES OBTUSE ANGLES

E. Discussing new Activity Based: 3As Activity (Act, Analyze, Apply) Dance with Math
concepts and Now class lets have another activity. The teacher will execute 3 dance
Practicing new skills #2 steps. Let the students follow the actions. Within across P.E Integration

Ask:
 So, looking at your dances steps what kind of angles are formed?
 Are the angles the same?
 Do they have the same measurements?
(The teacher will praise learners who answer and participate) Praising the learners
F. Developing mastery Direct Instruction-(TGA Activity: Tell, Guide, Act) (Differentiated Instruction)
(Leads to Formative Teacher will group the class and explain the tasks of each group. Guide each
Assessment 3) group in doing the task. Then instruct the group to show their work afterwards.

Yellow Group: Draw and Name It! (Arts Integration)

Direction: Using models, draw and label the different kinds of angles. (2 drawing
for each angles)

Red Group: Match it!

Direction: Using the table match/arrange the description with its’ name and
illustration.
Expected Answers:

applications of concepts
and skills in daily living

1. What can you observe in the picture shown?
2. As a student, how do you used angles in our day to day activity? HOTS
