4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory Activity I. Preliminaries
(10 minutes) a. Prayer Before the Class

The teacher will have a short recapitulation on the last topic being discussed.
Activity: BMI SOLVING!
Body Mass Index is a simple calculation using a person’s height and weight.
The formula is BMI = kg/m2 where kg is a person’s weight in kilograms and m2
is their height in meters squared.
BMI = weight ÷ height2

In metric units: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height2 (meters)


In US units: BMI = weight (lb) ÷ height2 (inches) * 703

Each students will be given 10 minutes to solve their BMI.

The activity highlights objective 1 and 2.

4. 2 Activity Activity: FORM THE JUMBLED WORDS
(10 minutes)
The students will be grouped into three. They will form the jumbled words given by
the teacher. Each group then race to be the first to unscramble the words in relation to
the definition provided and spell them with their set of letter tiles. They will be given 10
minutes.

(5 minutes) Why do we need to know the basic skills, hand signals and the proper positions
in playing Volleyball?

Possible answer: Knowing the rules can often be the difference between winning
and losing. Learn and use these rules to get an advantage over your opponent.
Through a competitive set of rules, sports regulations are designed to ensure the
safety of both the athletes and the equipment involved in the sport without
prohibitively impacting the intentions of the gameplay.

4.5 Application Activity: Applying the Hand Signals in Playing Volleyball


(20 minutes)
With the same grouping, students are task to apply the hand signals in playing
volleyball.
Each group will perform the hand signals in volleyball for 15 minutes. Perform
it in front of the class.
The criteria below will be used in assessing students’ performance.

(15 minutes) INDEPENDENT LEARNING
Activity: Remember Me!

The students will name the different equipment use in volleyball and a short
description to each equipment. Answers will be written in their notebook.

Possible answers are: net, ball, court, poles

COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
Activity: Video Presentation

Through creativity, each group will present a video presentation on the basic
skills in playing Volleyball. After finalizing their presentation, they will use the
CAPCUT video editing application to create a simple effects and animations.
You can use music in executing the skills.

Guidelines:
The video must not exceed in 3 minutes.
Everyone must be in the video. You must ask somebody to take the clip.
Output will be submitted on the next meeting.

This activity highlight objective 6 and 8.

Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a

court under organized rules. There are many physical benefits from playing
volleyball. It improves the strength of your arms and definitely improves eye
hand coordination. Volleyball is also a great way to improve cardio fitness. And
being so active with other people will increase social skills.

The mental benefits of playing Volleyball are definitely great. It’s very satisfying
hitting the ball over the net for a point or getting past your opponents blockers
to score a point. It takes lots of practice and focus but it’s very rewarding when
you get good at it, plus it can keep you mentally healthy by helping you cope
with any stress.
