Study the two examples of the relative pronouns used in the video:
“ It’s more than just the cups and the lids that are creating waste.
“ For a courier service, this is something that is unique.
We use relative pronouns (that, which, who, where) in defining clauses to give important in-
formation about the noun before it. We need the information after the relative pronoun to un-
derstand what or who is being referred to.
EXAMPLES: I drank some coffee this morning that / which had a lot of caffeine.
We visited a coffee shop that sells biodegradable coffee mugs.
I spoke with the man who created this idea for biodegradable coffee mugs.
We use relative pronouns (that, which, who, where) in non-defining clauses to add informa-
tion to our idea but can be taken away and we still understand who or what is being referred to.
EXAMPLES: The Cuban coffee, which was delivered yesterday, was quite expensive.
This coffee mug, which you can get in Berlin, is biodegradable.
The company owner, who is about 31 years old, wants to expand his business.
