Fr. Daniel L. Estacio- College President
With his take on practice sustainable living, these are about minimizing waste,
limiting the use of natural resources and wise use of environment. Here are the
things he practices to live sustainably, first minimizing or as much as possible not
using of plastic instead he uses eco-bag that is eco-friendly. He wisely uses or reuse
paper by printing back to back. In his room, he uses smart lighting solution or led
lights that are energy saving. He makes sure to set his aircon only for two hours and
turning off or unplug all the lights and appliances not in use. In his homilies and talks,
he integrates his care and love for environment or creations of the Lord. He added
that as much as we take good care of our house, we as well should be good
stewards of the environment because it is also our home. As he is the college
president of PCC, here are his eco-friendly plans for our school. Changing of
florescent bulbs to led lights to serve energy and prevent from receiving risk from
florescent lights. Cut down on throwing things instead reuse it to lessen the waste or
aim for zero waste. Using of eco-friendly supplies for students and workers. Turning
off the unused lights and water to conserve energy and water. Encouraging to have
school gardening despite of lack of space such as vertical garden wall and outside
the school to have planting activities. Advocating as well the no food waste in
canteen and clean drives in our community. To have eco-clubs in school to raise
awareness of the issues in environment and how we can help or take care of the
environment. He emphasizes that we are the stewards of the environment, we can
make a contribution to make the Earth a better place by practicing sustainable living.
Monnira Crizel Yaneza-BSBA Student
In order to practice sustainable living at home, she turn off her gadgets she used
after online class to save energy. Also, turning off the unnecessary lights in their
home.
Norman Harvey Reyes-SHS Teacher
He teaches his children to use the resources wisely for example limited use of water
and turning off the appliances that was not used. He also orients his kids to don't
charge their gadgets overnight. He also use LED lights that use less energy and last
longer that is really helpful to live a sustainable life.
Iana Faith Yaneza-High School Alumni
She practices sustainable living in simple ways, first reduction of plastic by using
equipments or things that can be reused like bamboo utensils. She helped others to
live a sustainable life by influencing her friends and classmate to use things that
sustain our environment. Also, sharing sustainable living in online platforms.
Mrs. Jennifer Charanguero-College Professor
She tackled on how she and her family practice sustainable living at home by
unplugging all the sockets that was not used before sleeping, switching of gadgets
and appliances to conserve energy. The plastics they received from the shops, they
keep it for future use like putting the trash instead of buying plastics. They support
some of the shops that the packaging can be recycled such as bottles. At home, they
make sure that they use strainer for drainage so that it won't be stocked by the trash
that can help the environment. Her take with encouraging her co-employees in
practicing sustainable living is to be the example of doing things that can help the
environment for example in their faculty by turning off the Aircon 30 minutes before
living.
b. Answer this question
As a PCCian, how are you going to emphasize the relevance of climate movement in
the contemporary world.
As a PCCian I will emplasize the relevance of climate movement in the
contemporary through informing my families, friends, classmates, and other people
about the current issues happening in our environment, sharing facts or news in
social media to raise awareness that will help them to make a movement to take
care of our environment. Leveraging social media platforms and digital tools to share
accurate information, infographics, and success stories related to climate action.
Engage with online communities and discussions to amplify the message and reach
a wider audience. Lead by example in embracing a sustainable lifestyle or on how to
be a responsible citizen by doing things that can help reduce or prevent the
environmental issues such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and choosing
sustainable products. I will influence friends and family to adopt eco-friendly
practices and make environmentally conscious choices in daily life. Also, choosing
products and services from companies committed to environmentally friendly
practices. In PCC, we can plan and execute awareness campaigns [Link] could
involve hosting seminars, workshops to educate us PCCians about climate change
and its implications. By combining education, community engagement, and personal
action, we can effectively emphasize the relevance of the climate movement as a
student in the contemporary world. Our role extends beyond individual awareness to
actively contributing to a collective effort for a sustainable future.
