PBY Catalina Aircraft Overview

The Consolidated PBY Catalina was a multi-role flying boat produced between 1935-1945. It served with the US Navy, Coast Guard, and many other Allied air forces during World War II. Over 3,200 Catalinas were produced across several variants, with the PBY-5 being the most common. The Catalina had a distinctive twin boom design and could be equipped for patrol, rescue, mining, or attack missions. It played a vital role in anti-submarine warfare and convoy escort over the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
