a. Briefly describe the common strategy used to solve problems involving

the study of mechanics.

i. Draw the free-body diagram for the beam,

P r e c a s t concrete barriers are proposed to be located at a few parts of a highway

for a cycling race event. A s the manufacturer selected, you a r e required to

provide the precast a s shown in Figure Q 3 . Other than that, for record

purposes, the manufacturer is also required to provide all details including the

centroid and moment of inertia of the precast concrete barrier. Therefore,

and determine the area of all sections divided,

'kinetics' in the mechanics of dynamics.

c. Figure Q4 (b) s h o w s a 50 kg crate is forced by 400 N and the coefficient
of kinetic friction in an inclined plane, where ^Jk is 0.25. If the crate starts
from rest.

i. Determine the velocity of the crate after it travels 6 m up the


plane.
