NOTE:
This abbreviated checklist omits some of the Notes,
Cautions, and Warnings to enhance simulator and/
or cockpit procedures training, following classroom
discussions.
This checklist is for FlightSafety International initial
and recurrent training only. It does not meet the
requirements, nor the intent of the Federal Aviation
Regulations or that of the Rotorcraft Flight Manual

NORMAL
(RFM).
The pilot in command is responsible for assuring
airworthiness and safety of flight, and also responsible
for operating within the limitations specified in the
current Flight Manual and any revisions thereto.
Should an inconsistency exist between this checklist
and the FAA approved Flight Manual, the Flight Manual
shall take precedence.

EMERGENCY
OPERATING LIMITATIONS

Compliance with the limitations in the approved Flight Manual is required


by appropriate operating rules.

FLIGHT CREW LIMITATIONS

The minimum flight crew consists of one pilot who shall operate the
helicopter from the right crew seat.

CAUTION / WARNING
The left crew seat may be used for an additional pilot when the approved
dual controls and copilot instrument kits are installed.

USE OF PROCEDURAL WORDS

The concept of procedural word usage and intended meaning which has
been adhered to in preparing this manual is as follows:
“Shall” has been used only when application of a procedure is mandatory.
“Should” has been used only when application of a procedure is
recommended.
QUICK REFERENCE

“May” and “need not” have been used only when application of a
procedure is optional.
“Will” has been used only to indicate futurity, never to indicate a
mandatory procedure.

NOTE
A preflight check is not intended to be a detailed

mechanical inspection, but simply a guide to help
check the condition of the helicopter. It may be as
comprehensive at the discretion of the pilot.

1. Make sure that all flight worthiness-required corrective maintenance

GENERAL

Emergency procedures describe the actions that the pilot must take
relative to the various possible failures that can occur. Meanwhile,
depending on the many variable external environment, such as the
type of terrain overflown, the pilot may have to adapt to the situation
according to his experience.
To help the pilot in his decision process, four recommendations are
used:
LAND IMMEDIATELY

NORMAL
Self explanatory.
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Emergency conditions are urgent and require landing at the nearest
landing site at which a safe landing can be made.
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
Emergency conditions are less urgent and in the pilot’s judgment, he
may proceed to the nearest airfield where he can expect appropriate

EMERGENCY
assistance.
CONTINUE FLIGHT
Continue flight as planned. Repair at the destination according to the
maintenance manual.

Immediate actions that the pilot shall take are written in

On the SCU, a [HORN] pushbutton is used to activate the audio warning.


When the [HORN] pushbutton is pressed in, the amber warning light on
the CWP is extinguished: .

through the ICS system.

When the bleed valve opens, a flag appears on the FLI or 3-data
page. The flag disappears when the bleed valve closes. The bleed valve is
20 normally open when then the engine is shut down, during starting and at
low power settings.

EMERGENCY
• If the flag does not disappear at high power setting (i.e. near
MCP or above), the maximum available engine power is
reduced, specifically in cold weather.
• If the flag does not reappear at low power settings, the engine
may surge. Avoid abrupt changes in power settings.

FADEC governs Nf to a value that is significantly lower than usual.
This failure can be caused by an erroneous collective anticipator signal
(XPC). NR/Nf values may decrease to 360 rpm before the failure is
detected by the FADEC ( comes on).
If NR/Nf drop below 375 rpm in flight:
