A. REVIEW
I. Clause of Purpose: Mệnh đề chỉ mục đích - So That/ In Order That để mà
Form:
S + V1/s/es + O so that S + can/will + V0 + O
S + V2/ed + O in order that S + could/would + V0 + O
Lưu ý: Thông thường nếu không có NOT thì dùng can/could còn có NOT thì dùng won't/ wouldn't, trừ
những trường hợp có ý ngăn cấm thì mới dùng can't/ couldn't.
- I study hard so that I can pass the exam.
II. Phrase of Purpose: cụm từ chỉ mục đích - In Order To/ So As To/ To để mà
Form: + Inf.
in order to
S+V+O so as to + V0
to
Lưu ý: Nếu có NOT thì để NOT trước TO, tuy nhiên mẫu TO không áp dụng được trường hợp có NOT.
- I study hard. I want to pass the exam. → I study hard in order to/ so as to/ to pass the exam.
III. Adverb clause of result
1. with “so”: (vì vậy, do đó, cho nên): là một liên từ (conjuntion) dùng để diễn đạt kết quả của một sự việc
hoặc hành động
So + result (vì + kết quả/ hậu quả)
- Hoa worked hard, so she passed her exam [result].
(she passed the exam because she worked hard.[reason])
2. Adverb clause with “so/ such ……that” (quá .........đến nỗi mà)
a. S + to be + so + adjective / adverb + that + clause
- Jim is so intelligent that he always understands what I say.
- She is so lazy that she doesn’t want to study at all.
b. S + to be + such + a/an noun + that + clause (quá .....đến nỗi mà)
- She is such a good student that all her teachers like her.
- They are such beautiful pictures that I want to buy them all.
3. Adverb clause with “so much/ many/ few/ little + noun + that”
a. so much + uncountable noun + that: nhiều … đến nỗi
I have so much money that I don’t know what to do with it.
b. so little + uncountable noun + that: it … đến nổi
She eats so little food that she weighs only 40 kilos
c. so many + countable noun + that: nhiều … đến nổi
I have so many friends that I can remember all their names.
d. so few + countable noun + that : ít …..đến nổi
There were so few people that we couldn’t lift the box.
4. Phrase of result: TOO/ ENOUGH
- S + V + TOO + adj / adv (for + O) + TO INFINITIVE

- S + V + adj/ adv + ENOUGH + (for + o) + TO INFINITIVE
(............... đủ .....................để làm gì)
- He is so short that he can’t play basketball. → He is too short to play basketball.
→ He isn’t tall enough to play basketball.
