Method Statement for Reinforcement Steel Works

1. Introduction

1.1 Purpose: To outline the method for the installation and handling of reinforcement steel to
ensure compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.

1.2 Scope: This method statement covers all activities related to the handling, placing, and
securing of reinforcement steel for foundations, columns, slabs.

2. Responsibilities

2.1 Project Manager:

 Ensure overall project compliance.


 Provide resources and support.

2.2 Site Engineer:

 Supervise reinforcement steel installation.


 Verify compliance with design and specifications.

2.3 Safety Officer:

 Monitor adherence to safety practices.


 Conduct safety briefings and audits.

2.4 Reinforcement Steel Workers:

 Follow procedures outlined in this method statement.


 Report any issues or deviations.

3. Materials

3.1 Reinforcement Steel:

 Grade: Fe500D
3.2 Accessories:

 Binding Wire: Mild Steel Wire.


 Supports: Chairs, Spacers Bars.
 Cover Blocks: Concrete Cover Blocks.

4. Equipment

4.1 Tools:

 Cutting Tools: Rebar cutters.


 Bending Tools: Rebar benders, Manual or Hydraulic Bending Machines

4.2 Machinery:

 Concrete Vibrators: For ensuring proper compaction around reinforcement.

5. Methodology

5.1 Preparation:

 Review Drawings: Check reinforcement details, spacing, and cover requirements.


 Site Inspection: Verify dimensions, formwork, and conditions.

5.2 Handling and Storage:

 Storage: Store reinforcement With Proper cover don’t direct contact with soil to Avoid
Corrosion clean area to prevent damage.
 Handling: Handle with care to prevent deformation.

5.3 Cutting and Bending:

 Cutting: Measure and cut reinforcement bars according to the dimensions specified in
the drawings.
 Bending: Use bending machines to shape reinforcement bars as per design requirements.
Ensure bends comply with specifications.

5.4 Installation:

 Positioning: Place reinforcement steel as per the drawings, ensuring correct alignment
and spacing.
 Securing: Use binding wire to tie reinforcement bars securely at intersections. Ensure
proper lapping and anchorage.
 Supports and Spacers: Install supports and spacers to maintain correct cover and
alignment.
5.5 Inspection:

 Pre-Pour Inspection: Check that all reinforcement is correctly placed and secured.
Ensure compliance with cover requirements.

5.6 Safety Measures:

 PPE: Ensure all workers wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),
including gloves, helmets, and steel-toe boots.

6. Quality Control

6.1 Testing:
