List five problems faced by the Israelites during the Exodus


 The Egyptian army went after them with intention to kill them
 Lack of food
 Lack of water
 Attacks from desert tribes
 Lack of faith in God and Moses
 Harsh desert conditions
 Dangers posed by wild animals and desert snakes
 Internal disputes

2. Who were the Amalekites and how did God solve the Israelites’ problem of the Amalekites?

 Amalekites were descendants of Amalak, a grandson of Esau. They were a fierce nomadic
tribe that lived around the Dead Sea and often raided other tribes.
 Moses told Joshua to organize men to fight against the Amalekites. Moses took Aaron and Hur
to the top of the hill and raised his rod with his hands. When he held up the rod, the Israelites
won. When he put it down the Amalekites won.
 Moses got tired and Aaron and Hur put a stone for him to sit on and they held up his arms.
That’s how the Israelites defeated the Amalekites

3. What problems did Moses face as he led the Israelites during Exodus
 When they saw the Egyptian army coming at them, panicked and turned against Moses
 Lack of food
 Lack of water
 Lack of faith by the Israelites
 Harsh desert conditions
 Dangers posed by desert scorpions and snakes
 Problems of settling disputes among the people
 A weak spokesman who allowed idolatry
 Problem of organizing and uniting Israelites who were fatigued.
 He was stammerer and had difficulty communicating

 Faithfulness. Moses was faithful to God
 Obedience. Moses obeyed God when the Israelites wavered & worshipped a golden calf

 Kindness and sincere love for people
 Forgiveness
 Prayerfulness
 Wisdom (intelligence)
 Inquisitiveness. He sought to know who God really is.

 Director: he gave instructions on what the Israelites should do.
 Judge: he settled disputes among Israelites
 Priest: he offered sacrifices during renewal of the covenant & he sprinkled blood on the people
 Intercessor: he pleaded with God not to destroy Israelites after worshipping golden calf
 Prophet: he was God’s messenger
 Law giver: gave God’s commandments to the Israelites
 Organizer: delegated duties to groups of people
 Commander: led Israelites in fighting against desert tribes

6. Give five reasons why Exodus was important in the history of the Israelites
 It marked the end of their oppression in Egypt
 They emerged clearly as a community that had been chosen by God
 They realized that their journey to Canaan was a fulfillment of God’s promises to Abraham
 God proved mightier than the Egyptian gods
 It confirmed Moses as God’s chosen leader
 It united the people of Israel as a nation
7. State five ways in which God demonstrated his concern and care for the Israelites during Exodus

 He liberated the Israelites from slavery in Egypt


 God helped the Israelites to cross the Red Sea by instructing Moses to strike the waters with is rod
and creating a dry path
 God drowned the Egyptian army that were pursuing the Israelites into the Red Sea
 He provided the Israelites with water by sweetening the bitter water of Marah and by asking Moses to
strike a rock at Riphidim
 God provided them with manna and quails to eat
 God enabled Israelites to defeat the desert tribes such as the Amalekites
 God led the Israelites by a pillar of cloud during the day protecting them from desert heat and a pillar of
fire at night, keeping them warm
 He made a covenant with Israelites
 He gave Israelites strength to walk day and night
 He forgave them when they broke the covenant.
 He renewed the covenant with Israelites
 When bitten by snakes, God healed them
 God provided them with capable leaders e.g. Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Caleb
