Lab Report # 4
Objective:
To practice basic Drawing & Modifying Tools (Ellipse, Ray, Point, Divide,
Measure, Fillet, Chamfer & Blend Curve Commands) and to exercise a 2D Drawing (2D Practice
Drawing-03).
Ellipse command:
The AutoCAD ellipse command provides a straightforward way to draw an ellipse: You specify
the two endpoints of one of its axes and then specify an endpoint on the other axis. Like the Arc
command, however, the ellipse command offers several other options: Arc: Generates an elliptical
arc, not a full ellipse.
Ray command:
Creates a linear object that starts at a point and continues to infinity. The ray is extended to
the edge of the display in the direction defined by the starting point and the through point. The
prompt for a through point is redisplayed so you can create multiple rays.
Point command:
To make the point simply type PO press enter and then click at a point on the drawing area
or specify the coordinates of the point where you want to make the point. By default, the point
will appear as a single dot in the drawing area and you can take reference of these points to make
your drawing.
Divide command:
Access Methods. Tool Set: Drafting tab > Draw panel > Point drop-down > Divide.
Menu: Draw > Point > Divide.
Measure command:
1. Click MEASURE.
2. Choose Area.
3. Specify points. Use object snaps for precision.
4. When finished selecting points, press Enter.
Fillet command:
The steps to implement fillet are:
1. Select the Fillet command from the ribbon panel, as shown below: Or. Type F on the
command line or command prompt and press Enter.
2. Select the first object.
3. Type R or Radius.
4. Press Enter.
5. Specify the radius of the Fillet and press Enter.
6. Select the second object.
7.
Chamfer command:
The chamfer command in AutoCAD is used to create slanted edges. We can create the
chamfer by specifying either the chamfer distance or angle. Type CHA or chamfer on the command
line or command prompt and press Enter.
Blend curve command:
Creates a spline in the gap between two selected lines or curves. Select each
object near an endpoint. The shape of the resulting spline depends on the specified continuity.
Practice CAD Drawing – III
Commands use in drawing:
1) Ellipse
2) Circle
3) Centerline
4) Offset
5) Fillet
6) Ray
7) Trim
Steps:
In the start, I draw an ellipse of 75mm horizontal distance and 50mm vertical distance.
In the second step, I draw the centerline and find the center of circle.
Then, I draw the two circles of radius 25mm & 27mm.
Then, I use ray command.
Then, I use offset command to offset the ray and centerline.
Then, I use trim command.
Then, I use offset command to make the offset of ellipse of 6mm. And I use circle command and
trim command to draw the central part of the drawing.
Then, I use fillet command to draw the fillet of 5mm and 3mm at the corners.
