Course Description

This module provides an introduction to computer networks, covering network architecture,


protocols, and security. Students will learn about LANs, WANs, the OSI and TCP/IP models,
and hands-on network configurations.

 Types of Networks (LAN, WAN, MAN, PAN)

Week 2: Networking Models and Protocols

 The OSI Model (7 Layers)


 TCP/IP Model Overview
 Common Network Protocols (HTTP, FTP, DHCP, DNS, etc.)
 Hands-on: Identifying Network Protocols Using Wireshark

Week 3: IP Addressing and Subnetting

 IPv4 and IPv6 Addressing


 Subnetting and CIDR Notation
 Private vs. Public IP Addresses
 Hands-on: Configuring IP Addresses and Subnetting
