II. CASE HISTORY
A. Infancy and Toddlerhood
My story of development from infancy to toddlerhood; from birth until
about two years of age. Where children rapidly achieve many important milestone
that create the foundation for later growth and development.
According with my mother she wanted to abort me, because my dad
disappear for almost 2 years. My grandparents didn’t agreed with my mother’s
plan and my mother changed and cleared her mind and decided to have me with
or without my dad. During my infancy and toddlerhood my mother and my
grandparents they told me that they’re the one who provided my needs such as
changing ny clothes and diapers, feed me, play with me and more. They always
make sure that I am feeling safe and secured. They also let me walk with the
support of stroller. They also told me that I am so easily to get sick when I was a
baby that’s why they always monitor what I am doing. According to my mother I
experienced that 50/50 on the hospital because of my asthma. When I was 2 years
old my cousin took away my toy I cried out loud every time they will took away
my toys. That’s why my parents always locked me at our room to play alone and
enjoy my toys. They always make sure to keep me healthy and far from getting
any diseases that will make my asthma worst.
B. Early Childhood
My story of development from early childhood. I experienced during early
childhood the capacity to learn and to be friends with others.
The stage of my childhood wherein I can walk independently and speak
some few words. At this stage of my childhood we used to go with the plaza
wherein there’s a playground. As we arrived at plaza I immediately held my
grandfather’s hand and ran towards the swing. After enjoying the swing I go to
seesaw I felt scared at the first time I’ve tried it but later on I really enjoyed it. I
used to borrow my cousin’s bicycle with training wheels to learn how to ride a
bike on my own. One of the most epic happenings back then is when me and my
cousin ran towards our grandfather to greet him. We both fell and we got
wounded. Our mother got mad during that time. At the age of six when I was in
grade 1 I am become easily to catch diseases. I undergoes different treatments and
perform multiple of x-rays. It turned out that I have pneumonia, so I need to
undergo another 6 months of treatment but because of a tight budget during that
time I failed to complete that treatment. Started on that moment my mother
limited the time I will spent outside our house to avoid triggering my pneumonia.
C. Middle Childhood
Story of my development from middle childhood. The time when I'ved
develop foundational skills for building a healthy social relationships also.
During this stage of my life I used to bond with my classmates in reading
large story books that been provided by our teacher, we used to play jackstone
also. When I am alone at our hopuse I used the small green board and pretend that
im a teacher who is discussing in front of my students wherein my teddy bears are
my students. Even though I am not good in arts I love coloring books and
drawings. I also become a honor student because of my hardwork, I received an
award at the end of my school year. To be added I am curious about the world I
lived. I always asked my parents about the small things that I become confused
with for example is why the animals are different in sounds.
D. Late Childhood
My story of development from late childhood. In life span of late
childhood the physical development is slow and steady, than it early childhood.
During my late childhood, I’ve tried to join some contest that I haven’t
done before like joining in journalism competition where I become a third placer.
I also joined a gymnastics competition wherein we have a only one month
preparation yet we still managed to be a second placer. One time my father
bought us a bike, I easily learn how to ride on that bike. Furthermore, when I
wanted to have a doll house and my parents say no to it, I cried a lot and wanting
to have it. They explained to me the real reason why they can’t buy it for me and
after realizing those information they said I say sorry for my attitude.
E. Adolescence
My story of development from adolescence. It includes some big changes
to my body, and the way I see the world.
During my adolescence stage, I experienced different factors that affect
my development as a person. In this stage also I started to have my menstruation
together with gradual changes in my physical features. My mother always
reminding me that I am not a child anymore so that I should took care of my self
and practice personal hygiene. Everytime I will experience my dysmenorrhea I
can’t get up. All I can feel is the pain in my abdomen part. As the time passed by
my height increased while my weight decreased. I’ve observed that I become
more presentable everytime we have an important events to go with. I always
mixed and match my outfits. Furthermore, when I was I little kid all I want is to
go to the house of my playmates but now I don’t want to go outside. I just want to
spend time with my self and do things that caught my attention. At this stage I
also started to feel insecurities with others while scrolling to social media, but I
managed to control my envy feelings and think that we are all beautiful in our
own unique ways.
III. CASE ANALYSIS
In the first stage of my Development which is when I am in my infancy and
toddlerhood the proper theory that being applied is Sigmund Freud’s Psychoanalytic
Theory because I used to defend with my mother and even with my grandparents to
meet my needs during that stage. They tend to breastfeed me, change my diaper and
even my clothes to made me more comfortable.
In the second stage of my Development which is when I am in early childhood
the theory that fits my experiences is Erik Erikson’s Psycho-social Theory of
Development. Which is the Autonomy vs. Shame. My parents permits me to explore
my environment by letting me play and socialize at the playground. That’s why I
developed the sense of independence. They doesn’t restricted me with my freedom.
In the third stage of my Development which is when I am in middle
Childhood the proper theory that appropriate with my experience is Erik Erikson’s
Psycho-social Theory of development also which is the Initiative vs. Guilt. My
parents let me do what make me happy. Just like what I have stated from above. I’ve
love teaching even though it is fake. My parents always encourage me to do it every
time I wanted to. They also bought me chalk for the small green board I have.
In the fourth stage of my Development which is when I am in the late
Childhood the theory that fits it is the 3 elements of Sigmund Freud’s Psychoanalytic
Theory. Which is the id, ego, and superego. For example is when I wanted to have a
doll house. Wanting that things is what we called the ID which is our desires or
pleasures. The EGO is us who will decide. The SUPEREGO is my parents statements
which we will process and related to our conscience.
In the fifth stage of development which is the adolescence the proper theory is
Freud’s Psychosexual Development Theory which is the genital stage. During the
final stage of psychosexual development, the individual develops a strong sexual
interest in the opposite sex. This stage begins during puberty but last throughout the
rest of a person’s life. The goal of this stage is to establish a balance between the
various life areas.
IV. USEFULNESS OF THE CHOSEN THEORY
These theories can help us to recognize, understand, and explain new
situations. It also help to compare and contrast different experiences, help explain
decisions and actions to others, and help to identity gaps in our knowledge and
research.
For me, the helpfulness of the chosen theories are for us to understand how we
really developed not just physical but also cognitively. This case study together with
the chosen theories help me to look back on my past and realize so many things. We
have different experiences and I know some of those experiences are hard to
understand but with the help of these chosen theories it will make easier for us to
understand because it’s part of who we are today.
It's also an interpretation of study findings. We can use theories to serve as the
guide to our research. Always take note that not all theories are suitable with some
scientific examination we need to analyze and think nth time to decide what is the
proper theory that will suit your statements.
These theories help me to know how I change, develop, behave and think
starting from being an infancy up until now that I am in my adolescence stage.
