The facilitator introduced the title of the session, Planning A
Lesson Applying Knowledge and Content Within and Across
Curriculum Teaching Areas
The facilitator clearly discussed to the participants that when
planning a lesson, our main focus is the benefit of the learners.
Education programs are always child-centered. The aim of every
program is for learner’s development and learning progress.
The Facilitator motivated the participants by giving some activities.
All participants were engaged on the said activities.
The facilitator clearly discussed to the participants that as educator
we must plan ahead. In planning a lesson, our main focus is the
benefit of the learners and with the used of different strategies this
will become more effective.
- The speaker, based from the topic discussed during the SLAC
session 9, explained that when planning a lesson that applies
knowledge and content within and across curriculum teaching
areas, the following can be considered:
- Learning objectives
- Student assessment
- Content organization
- Instructional strategies
- Materials
- Communication
- Reflection
- Integrating subjects
Teaching and learning process must be continuous. That is why we
need to reflect in everyday teaching for us to understand and
realize the effectivity of our teaching to learner’s development.

NARRATIVE REPORT
SCHOOL LEARNING ACTION CELL (SLAC) 9

Topic: PLANNING A LESSON APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND CONTENT
WITHIN AND ACROSS CURRICULUM TEACHING AREAS
The facilitator clearly discussed to the participants that when planning a
lesson, our main focus is the benefit of the learners. Education programs are
always child-centered. The aim of every program is for learner’s development
and learning progress.
So, from the topic discussed during the SLAC session 9, when planning a
lesson that applies knowledge and content within and across curriculum teaching
areas, the following can be considered:
- Learning objectives: Identify what students will know or be able to do
after the lesson.
- Student assessment: Assess students' prior knowledge to understand
their strengths and misconceptions.
- Content organization: Organize and sequence content to make it
accessible and engaging.
- Instructional strategies: Choose appropriate strategies to reinforce
ideas from different subjects.
- Materials: Select relevant and authentic materials.
- Communication: Communicate expectations and criteria.
- Reflection: Reflect on your practice and outcomes.

- Integrating subjects: can help students: make real-world connections,
apply knowledge in new contexts, and deepen their understanding. (The
term for combining two or more subjects when teaching a topic is CI or
curriculum integration.)
To summarize the topic, the purpose of the application of content knowledge
standard of the InTASC model, focus on Content Knowledge, is to ensure
teachers are continuously striving to incorporate innovative tools and strategies
for enhancing student learning into their own teaching style or strategies which
also include cross-disciplinary methods. The strategies use in the planning must
be with the same standard of global education. Learners must be in line with the
current trends.
From the prior discussion, it was given emphasis that in order to prepare
and provide better learning educators must identify and know students'
strengths, misconceptions, and how they learn best in your discipline, remember
that every learner have their own identity. To the diverse learners one can
present content that it is accessible, understandable, and engaging to all
learners. Learners learning abilities may be differ but eventually they will learn
with the use of various tools,
