Group Name: water warriors
Date: 06-03-2025
Abstract:
This project will analyze and enhance the availability of safe drinking water to protect the health
of academics, staff, and students at the University of Rajshahi. The study will look at current
difficulties with water availability, quality, and distribution, emphasizing the importance of clean
water in maintaining health and academic performance. A qualitative method approach will be
used to collect comprehensive data, which will include surveys, questionnaires, and stakeholder
interviews. The findings are expected to reveal potential pollution issues, infrastructure
inadequacies, and user concerns regarding the safety of the water. Given these findings,
recommendations will be made to improve water delivery systems and maintenance processes.
Finally, this project will assist build a safe and sustainable drinking environment on campus.
Introduction:
Access to safe drinking water is crucial for health and well-being, particularly in educational
settings where students and staff depend on it regularly. At the University of Rajshahi (RU), the
availability and quality of drinking water are vital for creating a healthy learning atmosphere.
However, there are still problems with water management, safety, and accessibility, raising doubts
about how well the current water delivery system is working. By analyzing its availability, quality,
and the difficulties in maintaining safe water on campus, this study seeks to assess the condition
of RU's drinking water. Surveys, interviews, and focus groups are all used in this qualitative study
to get opinions from university authorities, employees, and students. The study intends to shed
light on important issues pertaining to waterborne illnesses, inadequacies in infrastructure, and
legislation that may hinder access to safe drinking water by examining their experiences and
challenges. The study will also provide data-driven insights and suggestions for improving RU's
drinking water supply and quality. These challenges are essential for creating a safer and healthier
academic environment, guaranteeing that students and staff have dependable access to clean water
for their daily needs.
Project description:
The University of Rajshahi, one of the biggest educational institutions in Bangladesh, encounters
difficulties in ensuring an adequate supply of clean drinking water. The current water sources
could be polluted due to poor maintenance, outdated infrastructure, or insufficient purification
systems. Furthermore, the few drinking water stations available hinder access for students,
particularly those with disabilities. This project aims to tackle these problems by introducing
sustainable water solutions.
Methodology:
1. Research Approach
This study takes a qualitative approach to explore the accessibility, quality, and challenges of safe
drinking water at the University of Rajshahi. Through interviews, surveys, and discussions, we
aim to understand the experiences and concerns of students, staff, and key stakeholders.
2. Data Collection Methods
A. Primary Data Collection
Surveys & Questionnaires:
We'll gather insights from students, staff, and workers to understand their experiences with
drinking water facilities. The survey will cover topics like:
• Availability of drinking water
• Distance to the nearest water source
• Incidences of waterborne illnesses
Overall satisfaction with drinking water quality and accessibility
Interviews:
Conversations with university officials, maintenance staff, and health professionals will help us
understand the infrastructure, policies, and management of drinking water on campus.
Budget Estimate:
Item Estimated Cost
Water Quality Testing 10,000
Water Purification System 50,000
New Drinking Water Stations 1,00,000
