Experiment Name:
Filter Design for signal processing using MATLAB.
Objectives:
1. To know about signal processing.
2. To know about different filters
3. To know about how to reduce noise using filters
Theory:
Anything that carries information can be called as signal. It can also be defined as
a physical quantity that varies with time, temperature, pressure or with any
independent variables such as speech signal or video signal. The process of
operation in which the characteristics of a signal Amplitude, shape, phase,
frequency, etc. Amplitude, shape, phase, frequency, etc. undergoes a change is
known as signal processing.[1]
A filter circuit is a combination of capacitor and series reactance, tuned to a
particular harmonic frequency (series resonance), to offer it the least impedance at
that frequency and hence, filter it out. There are some filters such as low pass filter,
high pass filter and band pass filter. Every filter has a specific order. [2]
In this experiment MATLAB programming was used. Here some functions like
designfilt, filtfilt, filter, fir1 were used to complete the experiment.

Discussion & Conclusion:
Various filters were plotted in this experiment using the fvtool function in the
MATLAB IDE. Besides this, the plotted figures of filters represent theoretical
filters. All signals were filtered after applying noise, and different outputs were
plotted. As a result, the experiment was successfully completed. We can learn
about signal processing and put it to use as a result of this experiment.
