Rome, women were completely under the control of their paterfamilias. Than, from 600 to 1450
CE, in the Byzantine Empire, women were constrained to their homes, and when they went out,
they had to wear veils over their faces. Religion influenced the gender roles of many societies and
civilizations from prehistory to 1450 CE. From prehistory to 600 BCE, gender roles have been
influenced by religion in many civilizations. In ancient Mesopotamia, The Mesopotamian woman

On October 31, 1963, a Cleveland police detective named Martin McFadden saw two men, John
W. Terry and Richard Chilton, standing on a street corner looking suspicious. One would walk by
a certain store window, stare in, and walk back to the other to confer. This was repeated several
times, and the detective believed that they were plotting to do a store robbery. The officer
approached the men and addressed himself as a policeman, and asked their names. When the men

information, and it is the way in which we make contact in our everyday lives through our five
