The Global Ocean Water Levels
Predicting the Future Rise in Global Ocean Water Levels Ajith Madhav Kuthumbaka, Krupal
Mamidala California State University Long Beach, EE 503 Advanced Systems Engineering
Abstract Sea level rise due to change in climate is a severe global threat; Flooding, storm surges,
and other consequences of the rise in ocean water level have a widespread adverse effects on
coastal cities across the globe. Consistent rise in ocean levels have occurred throughout the world
for thousands of years. The data from tide gauge observations and global satellite imagery, assisted
us to determine the rates and causes of rise in sea level. On analyzing the data, it affirms the need
for long term reliable observation to estimate accurately the regional changes furthermore to
improve our ability to estimate the future changes in ocean levels. Even if the best preventive
measures are taken, ocean levels will continue to rise for many decades to come, due to the large
time ranges associated with the climatic evolution even if the temperature rise is stabilized.
Information from various scientific studies is requried to understand sea level rise (SLR), this review
emphasizes the problems and consequences this rise in sea level is creating by projecting the Ocean
water levels in the future under the present global conditions.

Essay about Lessons in Leadership in Demian
Lessons in Leadership in Demian
In Demian, Hesse uses a comparison to the Biblical story of Cain and Abel to convey his ideas
about those who are different. The idea arises again and again, causing the reader to look at it from
a very unique perspective. Through this comparison, the reader begins to see the mark of Cain as a
positive symbol as the mark of those who would lead the world into the future of mankind, without
fear.
When Emil Sinclair first meets Max Demian, he sees that Demian is not like anyone he has ever
known. Unconsciously, he views Demian as having a mark something that sets him apart from the
others. Sinclair isn t sure if it is the ... Show more content on [Link] ...
This is important in explaining how both Demian and Sinclair are so separate from the others:
they bear this metaphorical mark. This explains, also, the characters in the book toward which
Sinclair is drawn Frau Eva, Pistorius, Beatrice; all people whom are different from the herd. This
notion of superiority is supported constantly throughout the novel, but never quite so clearly as
when Demian demonstrates his inherently stronger will. He somehow scares Kromer, Sinclair s
childhood tormentor, away; he stares down the Confirmation class teacher in order to sit wherever
he likes. Being so much stronger and bolder than others, he is capable of exerting his will over
theirs. This is a product of that which his mark implies.
People such as these do, in fact, exist in the real world. They are not just creations of an imagination
in application to the Biblical tale of Cain and Abel. Though the difference in these stronger, perhaps
better, people is not quite so apparent in reality as in Demian, they do bear the same sort of mark.
These people are the ones who show no fear, who innovate and create without concern for the
standards of others. They write novels such as Demian and The Fountainhead; they sculpt statues
like the Madonna della Piet aacute;. They are wise, intelligent, and bold.
Persuasive Essay On Invasive Plants
How easy is it to take care of a plant; pretty simple right? Just give the plant water and sunlight and
it will most likely grow. How about at goldfish? Get a tank, fill it with some water, add the
goldfish and make sure to feed it every once in a while. It takes a bit more work but still relatively
easy. How about having to take care of a reptile, like an iguana? They are much more difficult to
take care of. They also have many more needs including a heat lamp, special diet, forested cage,
and they do not like to be handled. When someone no longer wants these pets, they may be tempted
to release them in the wild and when this happens it can have devastating effects. When any of the
species mentioned above are released into the wild where they are not native, they have a chance to
become an invasive species. According to the Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area or
CISMA, invasive species are nonnative plants or animals that cause harm to the environment,
economy, or human health (CISMA, 2017). Invasive species are normally brought to a new area
by people who want to own exotic pets or have plants that will survive in extreme weather. When
the conditions are favorable to the species it can survive much better than the native species. If the
species happens to find a mate to reproduce, it can grow in population rapidly. One example of this
is the rabbit population on the island of Macquarie where the population went from 20,000 to
130,000 in just six
Rachel Giese Article Analysis
In Rachel Giese s article, How Energy Drink Companies Prey on Male Insecurities (2015), she
addresses that energy drinks companies are using different kind of tactics such as using super
athletes who drink energy beverages to fool insecure men into using their products to make them
feel manlier. However, these energy drinks had a bad influence on people s health both
psychologically and physically. In fact, drinkingenergy beverages can cause sleep disturbance in the
long run. Giese is a deputy editor in the grid, and that is after she was an award winning writer and
editor throughout her career. She had written many articles of men uncertainties, which made her
have some expertise in that field. In fact, she is working at the moment in writing... Show more

I think this kind of supporting ideas makes this article more effective on the reader and makes
them agree with the author because it gives something for the reader to relate to. For example,
according to Giese (2015) a fourteen year old boy in Norway was hospitalized with kidney failure
after consuming four liters of energy drinks during a sixteen hour Call of Duty session (para.10)
This example proves the fact that energy drinks have bad effects when drinking it in big doses.
Her usage of this particular event is very effective because it made other people feel really angry
at these companies because they are risking young men s health just to gain a little profit. This
event made the readers sympathetic toward the family of that child and all the other victims of
those outrageous acts which made them willing to join this cause with the author. Moreover, after
approaching sixteen companies, she found out that only four of them avoid marketing their
products to children (Giese, para 10, 2015). This fact made the author very disappointed with the
industry since they are willing to risk these children s lives just to gain profit. This made her more
determined to aware people and parents about the dangers of drinking energy drinks, especially for
children and their
Sanitation Safety Planning For Sanitation
[Link] Safety Planning
Sanitation safety planning (SSP) is a risk based management tool for sanitation systems that prevents
exposure to disease causing excreta, from containment through emptying, transport, treatment, and to
disposal or reuse phase (Organization, Sanitation safety planning, Manuel for Safe Use and Disposal
of wastewater, greywater, and excreta 2015).
SSP can be applied in both formal and informal settings for improving existing systems. SSP is also
useful in the reduction of health impacts while increasing the benefits of reuse.
First step in the SSP is a system assessment, to identify the sanitation chain, exposure groups,
pathways, and potential hazards. Second step is the develop and implementation of ... Show more

The organization responsible for overseeing collection and transport can has to assure the provision
of appropriate equipment, working according to standard operating procedures. Controls may also
include proper design and construction of sanitation systems, working with trained operators, and
have a preventive maintenance program. For example, periodic testing of effluent and checks on
delivery volumes may be included in the monitoring phase. As the performance of the treatment
plant have a serious effect on the way the bio solids are applied in the farm, pathogens can be
recycled back to the community leading to a disease outbreak. Costs in terms of public health and
businesses reputation need to be taken into account.
Following with the forth step which consist of developing supporting programs and reviewing plans.
When the fecal sludge is delivered to the treatment plant, adequate management is not always done
and some products end in dumping sites leading to serious health and environmental impacts. In that
case, SSP should also identify dumping as a hazardous event and include controls and monitoring to
manage these risks posed to the wider community. A plan can also be developed at the treatment
level, so that effluent and bio solids meet agreed standards (Organization, Sanitation safety planning,
Manuel for Safe Use and Disposal of wastewater, greywater, and excreta 2015).

House On Mango Street Reflection
Have you ever felt like the place you belonged to didn t belong to you? In The House on Mango
Street, this is how the main character, Esperanza, felt. The author, Sandra Cisneros, did a good
job in portraying a girl who couldn t find her place. She had a problem accepting where she was
from, The House on Mango Street is heartfelt novel and is great to pass the time. In this story, you
will be shown the lives of Esperanza, her sister Nenny, their two best friends Rachel and Lucy,
and the many people who lived on Mango Street. This book is about a girl who went from
denying her place to accepting it. Esperanza was a little girl who always felt like she was destined
to have more than what she had, which, quite frankly wasn t a lot. She... Show more content on

All the people on Mango Street were struggling to get by, but they seemed satisfied with just
making it. Esperanza was not. There were characters like Esperanza s mother who was a smart
cookie, and could ve been anything, but she let shame get the best of her and dropped out of
school. There was also Rafaela who got married before the 8th grade just so she could move into
her own house, but her husband never let her leave the house afterward. He never let her see her
friends, and the highlight of her week was getting coconut or papaya juice from someone who
would send it up in a paper bag attached to a clothespin since she couldn t leave the house. Lastly,
there was the time when she was left stranded by the tilt a whirl waiting for a friend that never
came back and got molested by a group of boys. The only witnesses were the red clown statues
that seemed to be laughing at her. Nevertheless, she let none of this stopped her from going
forward and perusing her dream. She still seemed to be struggling with a sense of belonging, but
maybe that s because she didn t. By the end of the story, Esperanza accepted the fact that she lived
on Mango Street even though she never felt she belonged. She learned that even though she may
leave Mango Street, Mango street would never leave her. In the chapter titled, The Three Sisters,
who happened to be fortune tellers, they told her that she would one day get her big house and a

Puritans Values
When the first wave of European immigrants faced the hardships of the voyage across the
tumultuous Atlantic Ocean, these English Puritans had hopes of a future free from the harsh
persecutions and injustices they were subjected to in 17th century England. Puritans values were
documented in the writings of such immigrants such as A Model of Christian Charity , written by
John Winthrop while aboard the Arabella in 1630, and The MayflowerCompact , a constitution like
document drafted and signed by the men on board The Mayflower in 1620. In the former,
Winthrop emphasized the significance of maintaining unity under God and sharing in the struggles
of one another so that the burdens and hardships of one are those of the community as well as the
Puritans arrived in the New World. Similarly, The Mayflower Compact encouraged unity and
equality through the formation of a civil political body to enact governing laws and constitutions
that would uphold their societal and religious values to promote equality and justice for all.
Despite such principles that the Pilgrims believed they were instating during the formation of the
New World, I believe these values were quickly distorted, leading to a biased and prejudiced
society that prevails today. Through the analysis of the history of early America, it is evident to me
that though the Puritans left England as the persecuted and claimed to aspire to a just society, they
arrived in the New World as persecutors of those whose beliefs
Animal Cruelty In Perdue Farms
Throughout the Perdue farms across the country, there has been evidence of overcrowding and
unethical treatment to the chickens kept in the barns. This past December, footage of workers
stomping on the necks of chickens in a North Carolina Perdue chicken farm was released by Mercy
for Animals, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing animal cruelty in the food industry (
Watch ). With the introduction of this video, the organization stated that the only direct solution to
this problem is to become vegetarian, but I refuse to believe that that is the only option. I am
personally concerned with what foods and chemicals I am putting into my body, and it makes me
uncomfortable knowing that I am consuming chicken that has been covered in... Show more content

According to Farm Sanctuary, the chickens, and the large barns they are raised in, are covered in
feces. Even under these conditions, Perdue still believes they are healthy enough for human
consumption ( Factory Farming ). Over the years, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(PETA) has travelled around the country to protest with other disgruntled Perdue employees.
During one of their protests at the Perdue slaughterhouse in Salisbury, Maryland, Ingrid E.
Newkirk, PETA president, came across chickens dying from heatstroke in exposed crates. After
further investigation, she found that if the chickens can t handle the unethical conditions created
by the employees and are dead, dying, diseased, or disabled, they will be thrown like lifeless
beings into bins labelled 4D ( Frank Perdue s Legacy ). The awful fact of the matter is that most
of the chickens are disabled as the majority of them suffer from broken bones. This occurs because
of the rapid breast growth the company sets as standards for production. The number of hormones
and antibiotics that the company infuses into the chickens makes them grow at abnormally fast
rates. The normal chicken s life span is about ten to fifteen years ( Frank Perdue s Legacy ). Perdue
typically slaughters its chickens once they reach the age of two months. At this age, their breast size
is approximately the same as a ten year old
