Gamification for Impact Challenge
We're excited to invite you to participate in the Gamification for Impact challenge, where you'll
have the opportunity to design innovative gamified solutions that drive positive change in one of
two key areas: Either i) Education
Or ii) Environmental sustainability.
What is Gamification?
Gamification is the use of game design elements and mechanics in non-game contexts to engage
and motivate individuals to achieve specific goals or behaviors. It leverages the psychological and
social aspects of games to drive user engagement, increase participation, and foster desired
outcomes.
Challenge Overview
The goal of this challenge is to leverage gamification to address pressing social and environmental
issues. You'll work on developing a gamified solution that promotes desired behaviors, increases
engagement, and fosters meaningful impact.
Key Elements to Consider
1. Points: How can you use points to reward users for completing tasks or achieving milestones?
2. Badges: How can you design badges to recognize users' achievements and progress?
3. Leaderboards: How can you utilize leaderboards to showcase users' rankings and progress?
4. Challenges: What challenges can you create to encourage users to complete specific tasks or
achieve specific goals?
5. Feedback: How can you provide users with feedback on their progress and performance?
➢ Senior Category
1. Education: Design a gamified solution to improve educational outcomes, increase access to
education, or support lifelong learning.
2. Environmental Sustainability: Develop a gamified solution to promote sustainable behaviors,
reduce waste, or encourage environmental conservation.
Task Requirements
1. Problem Statement: Identify a specific challenge or opportunity in education or sustainability
and define a clear problem statement.
2. Gamification Strategy: Develop a comprehensive gamification strategy that incorporates
advanced gamification elements, such as points, badges, leaderboards, and challenges.
3. User-Centered Design: Design a user-centered solution that is accessible, inclusive, and
engaging.
4. Impact Measurement: Develop a plan to measure the impact of the solution, including metrics
and evaluation methods.
5. Prototype: Develop a functional prototype of the solution.
6. Presentation: Prepare a clear and concise presentation that showcases the solution and its
potential impact.
Senior Challenge Submission Guidelines
1. Prototype: Submit a functional prototype of the solution.
2. Presentation: Submit a presentation (not more than 10 slides) that outlines the problem
statement, gamification strategy, user-centered design, impact measurement plan, and
showcases the solution and its potential impact.
3. Conduct Onsite Demo: Each participating competitor will be given 15 minutes to demonstrate
the functionality of their solution in person at the hackathon.
Judging Criteria for Senior Category
1. Impact: Potential impact of the solution on the chosen theme.
2. Gamification: Effectiveness of gamification elements in driving user engagement and behavior
change.
3. User Experience (UX): Quality of user experience and accessibility of the solution.
4. Innovation: Originality and innovation of the solution.
5. Feasibility: Feasibility of implementation and scalability of the solution.
Tips for Success for Senior Category
