Important Notes
The Take-Home Test lasts from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on 11 April 2021. After the test, there will
be a Submission Period of 30 minutes (i.e. from 4:01 pm to 4:30 pm) for you to upload your
completed Take-Home Test file to Moodle. The Submission Period is NOT part of the test time,
and you are strongly advised to submit your completed test paper as soon as the Submission
Period starts, and in any case no later than 4:30 pm. It is your responsibility to ensure that you
submit your answers on time (i.e. at or before 4:30 pm).
Please note that:
(1) 20% of your marks will be deducted if you submit your completed Take-Home Test file
via Turnitin between 4:31 pm and 5:00 pm;
(2) You will receive 0 mark if you submit your completed Take-Home Test file after 5:00 pm;
(3) In the unlikely circumstances that the Moodle/Turnitin system malfunctions, you should
email your completed Take-Home Test file to your subject lecturer, and you must do so
within the Submission Period;
(4) You should ensure your computer and home WIFI function well. For late submissions due
to technical incompetence, faults and/or failures, the penalties stated in (1) and (2) shall
apply;
(5) If you submit a wrong file, and you email the correct file to your subject lecturer after the
Submission Period, the penalties of (1) and (2) shall still apply.
(6) You must complete the Take-Home Test all by yourself:
o You must work on the test all by yourself, without any forms of communication
with any classmates and/or other person(s);
o You must use your own textbook, teaching materials, and notes, which should not
be shared with other classmates, either physically or electronically;
o You must work on the test in a venue where no other classmates are present.
(7) Any established plagiarised cases will be subject to disciplinary actions such as mark
deduction, disqualification, or even expulsion by the College.

Take-home Test - FAQs
1. How can I open, save, and edit the question paper file that restricts editing?
Answer: The web version of MS Word does not allow you to edit a file that restricts editing. If you
do not have the full version of MS Office installed on the device (with Windows/Mac OS) you are
going to use in the test, please follow the instructions below to install the full suite of MS Office:
The installation procedures are as follows:
1. Login to CPCE Portal
2. Open Office 365 OWA (webmail)
3. Click the nine dots (App Launcher) button at the top-left corner
4. Click “Office 365”
5. Click “Install Office”
Should you have further enquiries, please contact ITU (HHB Hotline: 3746 0818) as soon as possible.
2. Where can I download the question paper file of the take-home test?
Answer: Log into Moodle and go to LCH1061 Centralised Group. You will see the file of the
question paper under “Week 10: Take-home Test (11 April 2021)”. Download the question paper file
(Microsoft Word Document) to the desktop of your computer (NOT any cloud drive as Turnitin may
not allow you to upload a file from a cloud drive).
3. How much time do I have for answering the questions in this assessment?
Answer: The test duration is 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on 11 April 2021.

4. When can I submit my completed question paper file?
Answer: After the test is released, the submission link is ready for your submission. In other words,
you can submit your completed question paper file any time during the test and submission period.
However, you are advised to submit the completed file as soon as the Submission Period starts at
4:01 pm. The Submission Period is meant to give you time to do three things:
(1) Submit your file;
(2) Double-check your file after submission;
(3) Fix any problems.
If you start your submission at the last minute, you may not have time to double-check your files or
fix problems. Double-checking your submission is a MUST. Experience tells us that students may
submit a file with a wrong file format or a totally wrong file. When that happens, you will get 0 mark
for the Take-Home Test.
5. What is counted as late submission?
Answer: All files received during the period of 4:31 pm – 5:00 on 11 April 2021 will be counted as
late submission and a total of 20% of your marks will be deducted. If your file is submitted at or after
5:01, you will get 0 mark in this assessment.
6. How can I submit my completed question paper file?
Answer: Please refer to the details in the pdf file “Take-home Test - Turnitin Instructions for
Students”.
7. Can I make multiple submissions for this assessment?
Answer: Yes, you can submit the completed question paper file to Turnitin for more than once before
the end of the Submission Period (4:30 pm, 11 April 2021). However, please remember that you have
to be responsible for your submissions. Therefore, you should double-check that the file you
submitted is the CORRECT one. Any blank file, wrong file, or corrupted file submitted to Turnitin
will be treated as no submission. Most importantly, you should make sure that you can submit the
completed question paper file to Turnitin within the Submission Period.
8. If technical problems occur on Moodle, what should I do?
Answer: Please note that we have checked with ITU. According to ITU, Moodle can cater for 700
log-ins at one go. Generally speaking, there will not be a problem. However, to ensure that you can
get the question paper file and submit the completed file successfully, the email system will be used
as a backup channel:
After the test is released on Moodle, you will also receive an email containing a link for you to
download the same question paper file.
In case you encounter any technical problem in your submission, please send your completed
question paper file to the designated email account of your lecturer before the end of the
Submission Period (4:30 pm, 11 April 2021).
Therefore, technical difficulties will NOT be a reasonable excuse for late submission.

In case there is any special announcement, we will inform students by posting a message on
