WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PHILIPPINES AFTER THE FIRST VOYAGE?

THERE WERE MANY EVENTS THAT STRUCK LIKE A CHAIN REACTION AFTER THE VOYAGE. TO NAME A
FEW, WE HAVE;

1. CONVERSION TO CHRISTIANITY – THEY OPENED THE EYES OF NATIVES AND INTRODUCED


SPANISH CULTURE TO THE PHILIPPINES: MOSTLY RELIGION. AS WE ALL KNOW, UP TO THIS
DATE RELIGION PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE IN SOCIETY. IT SHAPES AND GUIDES LIFESTYLE OF
FILIPINOS. AND WE HAVE THE SPANIARDS TO THANK\BLAME
2. GRADUAL COLONIZATION - PERHAPS THE FILIPINOS THEN WERE MEZMERIZED BY THE WAYS
OF THE SPANISH THAT THEY GRADUALLY LET THEM IN THEIR LIVES. ALTHOUGH, IN THE FIRST
PLACE, THE SPANISH’S INTENTION WAS TO COLONIZE THE PHILIPPINES.

RELEVANCE

IT BECAME AN EYE OPENER, NOT ONLY IN PROVING THAT THE EARTH WAS SPHERICAL IN SHAPE, BUT
ALSO SINCE IT NAMED THE FIRST PERSON WHO CIRMUMNAVIGATED THE WORLD FIRSY. IT IS ALSO
TO NOTE THAT BECAUSE OF THAT NAVIGATION TO THE PHILIPPINES, IT OPEND CERTAIN TOPICS LIKE;

1. CONVERSION TO CHRISTIANITY - AS METIONED PRIOR, THIS NAVIGATION BECAME THE FIRST


STEP OF THE PHILIPPINES IN EMBRACING RELIGION, WHICH LIVES UP TO THIS DAY.
2. GRADUAL COLONIZATION – AS MENTIONED PRIOR, THE SPANISH CULTURE BECAME OURS, IT
HEAVILY AFFECTED OUR WAY OF SPEAKING, OUR BELIEFS, EVEN OUR CLOTHING.
3. SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION - IT LEAD TO MODERNIZATION OF THE WAY OF LIVING OF
FILIPINOS. THE SPANISH HELPED BUILD INFRASTRUCTURES, CHRUCHES, AND SCHOOL THAT
HEAVILY HELPED THE PHILIPPINES ADAPT TO BECOME A FIRST WORLD COUNTRY

CORAZON AQUINO SPEECH

FORMER PRESIDENT AQUINO DELIVERED A SPEECH ON SEPTEMBER 19 1986 IN THE U.S CONGRESS.

THERE WERE 3 MAJOR PARTS IN HER SPEECH;

1. GRIEFING ABOUT NINOY


2. SUMMARIZING THE EVENTS OG TYRANY OF FORMER P[RESIDENT FERDINAND MARCOS SR.
3. PLEADING FOR HELP

1. THERE WERE EXACTLY 11 INTERUPTIONS OF APPAULSE TO HER.
2. ACCORDING TO HER, NINOY AQUINO DIED 3 TIMES
 WHEN HE WAS IMPRISONED
 WHEN HE DID A HUNGER STRIKE
 WHEN HE WAS SHOT
3. THE PHILIPPINES OWED 28 BILLION U.S DOLLARS
4. THE PHILIPPINES CRIED FOR DEMOCRACY DESPITE HARD TIMES

THE SPEECH PROVIDED AS A SUMMARY OF WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PHILIPPINES. IT LEFT THE
AUDIENCE IN AWE AS CORY DELIVERED HER SPEECH. THIS WAS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE
PHILIPPINES TO RISE UP SINCE THEY HAVE OVERRUN THE DICTATORSHIP AND IS REPLACED B
DEMOCRACY.
