TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
04.00.00 PAVEMENTS
DESCRIPTION
The Resident Engineer, under this item, will carry out the necessary works so that the surface of the
subgrade across its entire surface presents the levels, alignment, dimensions, and degree of
compaction indicated, both in the project plans and in these specifications.
The subgrade is referred to as the upper layer of the embankment that serves as a surface of
Rolling. Its level is parallel to that of the road surface and will be achieved by shaping the natural terrain through
the cuts or fillings planned in the project.
The surface of the leveling will be free of roots, weeds, debris, or loose material.
CONSTRUCTION METHOD
Once the cuts are completed, the surface of the road will be scarified using
of a Motor Grader and Crawler Tractor with ripper or drag in hard-to-reach areas,
at a minimum depth of 15 cm; the stone aggregates larger than 3" that are found will be
withdrawn.
Subsequently, the material will be spread, watered, and beaten, with repeated use and
alternative to the Tank Truck and Motor Grader. Equipped with devices that ensure irrigation
uniform and profiled.
The operation will continue until a homogeneous material is achieved, with moisture as close as possible to the
optimum defined by the modified proctor compaction test indicated in the study
project floors.
The compaction will be carried out from the edges towards the center and will be performed until achieving 95%
the maximum dry density of the modified proctor test (AASHTO T-180. METHOD D) in soils
cohesive and granular soils until reaching 100% of its maximum dry density
essay.
The Supervising Engineer will request the execution of the field density tests that
determine the achieved compaction percentages. At least 2 samples will be taken per
every 500 linear meters of surfaced and compacted area.
In case the soils found at the subgrade level are composed of materials
Unstable areas will require improvement work, as indicated in the items.

DESCRIPTION:
The cleaning, deforestation, and cutting of the covering vegetation material must be carried out in a
appropriate strip, and in the thickness such that it can be easily seen that the material has already been removed
of coverage, in such a way that allows the quarry to be exploited with material free of
impurities.
The material resulting from cleaning, deforestation, and cutting of cover material, from the
quarries, will be placed next to the extraction area, within the limits of the right of
way, making sure not to interrupt roads, paths, access to homes, canals, ditches, etc. In case
in excessive accumulation or when authorized by the Supervision, the waste may be disposed of
placing them in the designated dumps for that purpose.
MEASUREMENT METHODS
The area to be measured will be in hectares of the surface of the completely clean quarry.

The number of Has. measured in the manner described above, will be paid at the unit price of
contract with the item "Quarry Enablement", understanding that such payment constitutes
full compensation for all labor, equipment, tools, and other items
necessary to complete this game.

for each one. The excavation will be carried out using mechanical equipment, type tractor of
caterpillars or similar, which will carry out necessary extraction and collection work.
The quarry exploitation method will be submitted for the Supervisor's approval. The cover
vegetation, removed from a borrowing area, must be stored for later use
in future restorations.
Before starting the excavation activities, the Contractor will verify the recommendations
established in the designs, regarding the stability of cut slopes. It must be carried out the
excavation in such a way that unexpected landslides do not occur, identifying the area of
working and checking that there are no people or constructions nearby.
All aggregate classification work, and especially the separation of particles from
size greater than the maximum specified for each grading must be carried out on site

DESCRIPTION:
Under this item, the Contractor will carry out all the necessary work to form a layer of
granular material, composed of gravel and fines, built on a properly prepared surface
prepared, that directly supports the loads and stresses imposed by traffic and provides a
homogeneous riding surface, that provides users with adequate comfort conditions,
speed, safety, and economy.
This activity includes the: extraction, screening, transportation, spreading, watering, and compaction of the
materials for stabilization on the finished subgrade in accordance with this specification,
alignment, slopes and dimensions indicated in the Project plans.
MATERIALS:
The material for the granular wearing course will consist of hard and durable particles, or
fragments of stone or gravel and fine particles (cohesive) of sand, clay or other crushed material in
fine particles. The portion of material retained on sieve No. 4 will be called coarse aggregate and
that portion that passes through sieve No. 4 will be called fine. Material of excessive size that is
has been found in the quarries, it will be removed by sifting or manually, until obtaining the
required size, as chosen by the Contractor. The composite material for this layer must be free
of plant material and clods or balls of earth. It will present a smooth granulometry as much as possible.
Well graduated.

THICKNESS REQUIREMENTS:
The thickness of the finished granular wearing layer shall not differ by more than 1.25 cm from
thickness indicated in the project. Immediately after the final compaction, the thickness
it should be measured at one or more points, every 300 linear meters. The measurements must be made
