VW Touran 2.
0 TDI PD (BMM) - Torsion Value Adjustment Guide
This guide explains how to check and adjust the torsion value (camshaft-to-crankshaft phase angle)
on a VW Touran 2.0 TDI PD BMM engine using VCDS. The factory reference value for your engine is -0.5° KW.
1. Reading the torsion value
- Warm up engine to ~90°C.
- Connect VCDS → [01 - Engine] → [Measuring Blocks].
- Go to Group 004, Field 4 shows torsion value (°KW).
- Example: -0.5° KW (factory setting).
2. Adjusting the torsion value
- Remove upper timing belt cover.
- Loosen 3x camshaft sprocket bolts (18mm), just enough to rotate sprocket.
- Clockwise rotation → increases torsion value (more positive).
- Counterclockwise rotation → decreases torsion value (more negative).
- Torque bolts: 20 Nm + 90° turn.
- Recheck torsion value in VCDS until it matches -0.5° KW.
