Subject: Request for Approval and Proposal for Conducting Value Added Course

Respected Sir/Madam,

With reference to the departmental meeting held on 2/7/2025, the faculty members have
proposed to conduct a Value Added Course (VAC) on Data Science & Analytics for the students of IV-I
CSE(AI&ML) during the academic year 2025–26. The primary objective of this course is to bridge the gap
between academic curriculum and industry requirements, thereby enhancing the technical
competencies and employability skills of our students.

In this regard, we submit the following requirements for your kind approval:

1. Honorarium: To engage external experts/industry resource persons for specialized sessions.


2. Laboratory Usage: Permission to utilize departmental laboratories and computing facilities
during evenings/weekends without disturbing the regular academic schedule.
3. Study Materials: Procurement of handouts, software tools, textbooks, and other learning
resources necessary for effective conduct of the course.
4. Other Logistics: Arrangements for audio-visual equipment, projector facilities, internet
connectivity, and refreshments for resource persons, as required.

The estimated duration of the course is 36–40 hours, with sessions planned beyond regular class
hours. The department will maintain proper records of student enrolment, attendance, feedback, and
outcome assessment to ensure quality delivery.

We therefore request your kind approval for the above proposal and sanction of the necessary
support so that the Value Added Course can be conducted smoothly and effectively.

scheduled as per the details given below to discuss and finalize the Value Added Courses (VACs) to be
conducted for the Academic Year [2025–26].

1. Identification of suitable Value Added Courses in line with industry requirements.

Proceedings
The meeting was convened by the Head of the Department, S. Yakhoob Ali, who welcomed the faculty
members and outlined the importance of conducting Value Added Courses (VACs) to enhance student
employability and skill development.

1. Introduction of VACs
- The HoD emphasized that Value Added Courses will supplement the regular curriculum and bridge
the gap between academic learning and industry practices.
2. Identification of Courses
- After deliberation, the following courses were proposed:
• Course 1: Data Science & Analytics
- It was decided that inputs from industry experts and alumni will also be considered before
finalizing the list.
3. Course Coordinators & Resource Persons
- Faculty members were nominated as course coordinators for smooth conduct and monitoring.
- External resource persons from reputed industries/institutes will be invited for specialized topics.
4. Scheduling & Credits
- Courses will be scheduled during evening/weekend slots without affecting the regular timetable.
- Each VAC will be of 30–40 hours duration.
- Successful completion will be acknowledged with a certificate issued by the department/institution.
5. Budgetary & Infrastructure Needs
- A proposal for honorarium, laboratory usage, and study materials will be submitted to the Principal
for approval.
- Necessary software licenses and lab facilities will be arranged in advance.
6. Other Points
- The department will maintain records of enrolment, attendance, and feedback for NAAC/NBA
accreditation.
- A review meeting will be conducted after the completion of each VAC to assess outcomes.

Resolutions
1. The department resolved to conduct three Value Added Courses in the current academic year.
2. Coordinators were assigned and course structures will be finalized within two weeks.
3. A proposal will be submitted to the Academic Council for necessary approval.
4. Regular feedback from students and industry experts will be incorporated for continuous
improvement.

Conclusion
The HoD thanked all faculty members for their active participation and constructive suggestions. The
