Technical Drafting

This document discusses technical drafting. It defines technical drafting as composing plans visually and notes some common terms for drafters. It then covers the history of technical drawing, important standards, and the "alphabet of lines" used to represent different features in a drawing. The document also discusses different types of technical drawings like orthographic, oblique, isometric, and perspective drawings. Finally, it outlines common tools used for technical drafting like pencils, T-squares, scales, compasses, protractors, French curves, and erasing shields.

ALPHABET OF LINES
Object Or Visible Lines- Thick dark lines used to show an outline of an object,
visible edges, and surfaces.
ALPHABET OF LINES
DIMENSION LINE – Thin and dark lines show an object’s size (span) with a
numeric value. Usually terminates with arrowheads or tick markings..
ALPHABET OF LINES
HIDDEN LINE – Short dash lines use to show nonvisible surfaces. Usually
shown as medium thickness.

.
CENTER LINE – Long and short dash lines. Usually indicates center of holes,
circles and arcs. Line is thin and dark.
ALPHABET OF LINES
EXTENSION LINE – Thin and dark line are use to show the starting and ending
of dimensions..
ALPHABET OF LINES
CUTTING PLANE LINE – Extra thick lines use to show cutaway views or plane
of projection where a section view is taken. Arrow indicates the direction of
view.
ALPHABET OF LINES
SHORT AND LONG BREAK LINES –Short and long medium line are use to
show a cutaway view of a long section.
ALPHABET OF LINES
LEADER LINE – Medium line with an arrowhead to show notes or label for
size or special information about a feature.
ALPHABET OF LINES
PHANTOM LINE – Long line followed by two short dashes used to show the
alternate position of a moving part.

SECTION LINE – Medium lines drawn at 45 degrees use to show interior view
of solid areas of cutting plane line.

BOBLIQUE DRAWING
It is drawn usually using a 45-
degrees angle to render the third
dimension.

BISOMETRIC DRAWING
 It is usually drawn using 30
degrees angles.
BPERSPECTIVE DRAWING
 Perspective drawing is
a technique to create the
linear illusion of depth. As
objects get further away
from the viewer they
appear to decrease in
size.
