Main event day
Description
• Date: 27th July 2024
• Venue: Blue Bells Model School
• The qualifying teams will receive their cases via message in this group beforehand.
Competition Structure
 Semi-Final Rounds: The semi-final rounds shall comprise of four teams. The two teams who
stand declared as winners of the semi-final rounds shall qualify for the final round.
 Final Round: In the final round, the teams may be called to argue from both sides, either as
petitioner or respondent, so every team should be fully prepared for both roles. One team will be
declared the winner.
• Language: The language of the competition shall be English.

Team Composition
 Each team shall comprise of three members: two designated as speakers and one as a researcher.
 The researcher may be permitted to argue as a speaker in case of illness or any unforeseen event,
with the permission of the Moot Court Convener.
Dress Code:

• Girls: White shirt and black trousers along with black coat and black shoes.
 Boys: White shirt, black trousers, and black tie along with black coat and black shoes.
 The participating teams shall adhere to the above-mentioned dress code while attending the
inaugural and valedictory ceremonies of the competition.
Memorial Preparation and Submission:
 Each team must prepare one memorial on behalf of petitioner(s)/appellant(s) and one on behalf of
the respondent(s). Each team has to submit six hard copies in total , including the memorials from
one side that they are allotted (ex Defendant but will have to make 2 memorial from the
defendant side 2 from the prosecution side and 2 for the case that will be given in the final. 3
Hard copies must be submitted to the judges by the team and 3 will be kept by themselves.)
 Petitioner memorials are required to have a blue cover and respondent memorials are required to
have a red cover. The memorials shall not contain any form of identification apart from the team
code. If any such identification or mark, symbol, etc., which has the effect of identifying the team
is found on the memorial, it shall result in instant disqualification.
 The hard copy of the memorial must be an exact replica of the soft copy submitted to the
organizers. Any difference in the same will result in disqualification from the competition.
 All memorials submitted for all purposes of the competition shall strictly adhere to the rules of
the competition. Each team must send a soft copy of their memorials, in .pdf format only, for
evaluation. No extensions will be granted with respect to this deadline.

Memorial Structure

 The memorial must have the following pages only:


o Cover Page: The cover page shall contain the case
title, side of the memorial, year of competition,
name of the court, and team code on the top right
corner.
o Table of Contents
o List of Abbreviations
o Index of Authorities
o Statement of Jurisdiction
o Statement of Facts
o Issues Raised
o Summary of Arguments
o Pleadings/Arguments Advanced
o Prayer
Content Specifications:

o Font and Size (General): Times New Roman, 12Pts


o Line Spacing (General): 1.5 lines
o Font and Size (Footnotes): Times New Roman, 10 pts
o Line Spacing (Footnotes): Single line
o Page Margins: 1 inch on all sides
o The hard copies of the memorial shall be printed on only one side.
Court Conduct:

 Arguments are to be made before the bench of


the panel of judges.
 The bench has the liberty to pose questions at
any time within the ten-minute span.
 Teams must address the judges as ‘Your
Lordship’ and provide plausible answers to their
questions.
 Each team has ten minutes to present their case.
 The two speakers in a team can divide the time
between themselves as they please.

Scoring and
Evaluation:

 In the case of evaluation of all the


rounds, the memorial marks shall
not be included to decide the merit.
But in case a tie takes place in the
semi-final or final rounds, the
marks of the memorial shall be the
basis for deciding the winner.
 The decision of the judges with
regard to the outcome of the rounds
shall be final.
Observing and Scouting:

• Teams shall not be allowed to observe the orals of


another team unless they have been officially knocked
out of the competition. Scouting is strictly prohibited.
Scouting by any team shall entail instant
disqualification.

 Participating students are to carry their own laptops


and internet connections with them for the
presentation.
