Proxim Bridge is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.^[1]^[2]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

Proxim Bridge is a stone bridge that spans the Hylia River It serves to connect the East Post Ruins in Hyrule Field to West Necluda. Unlike most other bridges, Proxim Bridge has stone Fire pits that line its walls. They can be rekindled as long as it is not Raining in the area. During the Great Calamity, any refugees from Hyrule Field would have passed over Proxim Bridge while attempting to evacuate to Necluda.^[3]

Proxim Bridge is guarded by a Hylian named Brigo, who protects it from Monster due to it being an "important route."^[4] When asked, Brigo will give Link directions and insights into Kakariko Village,^[5] the Great Plateau,^[6] and Hyrule Castle.^[7] If Link stands on the Bridge's railings during Brigo's patrol, he will try to talk him down from jumping.^[8]^[9] When Link steps down from the railing, Brigo will be relieved and tell him never to do that again.^[10]^[11]

Nomenclature

Proxim Bridge derives its name from proximity. "Proxim" is a mistranslation of its Japanese name, which shared its name with Aboda Village, a town from Spirit Tracks. In Japanese, Aboda Village was named after a pun, which means "Neighboring Village". This connection was missed by the localization team.
