Espresso Making Software

You can try out our espresso making software on your computer.

This will help you experience what it would be like to own our espresso machine. These programs also make it easier for people to develop their own extensions, skins and translations.
Only the Android version will connect to the espresso machine using BLE.

Instructions:
  1. Unzip the download
  2. Move the Decent icon to your Desktop
  3. Double-click on the Decent icon
  4. You will see this warning:
    "Decent.app" cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
    You will have several more steps to take, because OSX now blocks apps not downloaded from their app store.
  5. Click "Cancel".
  6. Go to Settings, Privacy & Security, scroll down, and tap "Open Anyway" next to the message:
    "Decent.app" was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.
  7. One final warning message will appear. Tap "Open"
  8. The Decent app is now approved, and you will not receive any future warnings.

Instructions:
  1. Unzip to its own directory
  2. Double-click DECENT.bat

For Linux

Instructions:
  1. Unzip to its own directory
  2. Run the decent.sh script for your Linux version
  3. For Linux/32bit, Linux/64bit, Linux/64bit/Wayland, and Linux/arm/Raspbian

For Android

Instructions:
  1. Download the Decent software to your computer
  2. Unzip to its own directory
  3. Copy the decent directory to /sdcard/de1plus by connecting your tablet to a computer with USB cable. Mac users: get Android File Transfer
  4. Download the 64 bit Androwish APK file to your Android tablet and install it.
  5. Run Androwish on your Android tablet.
  6. Kill Androwish
  7. In Android Settings, find 'App Permissions' and give 'Androwish' permission to read files.
  8. Run Androwish
    1. If you get a message about this being an old application, or insecure, ignore the messages.
    2. With your finger chose File/Source...
    3. Type /sdcard and tap return - If that doesn't work, try /storage/emulated/0/
    4. Use your finger to double-tap the 'de1plus' directory
    5. Use your finger to double-tap 'create_de1_update_icon.tcl'
  9. Wait. Androwish will exit.
  10. Double-tap the Decent Update icon that is now on your Android desktop.
  11. "Location Services", "Nearby Devices", and "Track your location" must be enabled, because Bluetooth is considered a Location Service by Android. If Bluetooth cannot find your DE1, these permissions are likely the problem.
  12. If your tablet is from Samsung, you may need to run Youtube, watch a video full screen and dismiss the popup message, otherwise the popups will appear in the de1app too.
  13. If the de1app crashes shortly after launching, make sure you installed the Androwish version recommended above, and not a different one from their website.
  14. If you are not able to create the app icon, it's because you have non-standard Android Launcher.
