Class 12 boy held for rapinghis minor niece in Ballia

Varanasi: Gadwar police in Ballia district held a class 12 boy for raping his niece, who studies in class 11 in his school. Ballia CO (city) Mohammad Usman on Wednesday said Gadwar police received complaint stating that the boy lured his niece, who is a year junior to him in his school, to a room and raped her on Sept 22. After registering a case on charges of rape and threatening and under sections of POCSO, the accused was detained for questioning while the girl was sent for medical examination, he added.

It came to light during a police investigation that the accused and complainants were relatives, neighbours and schoolmates. The family of the girl (16) mentioned in the complaint that she was on her way to school on Sept 22 when she came across the boy (17). He took her on his motorcycle to a room and raped her.

The accused left her near the community health centre in Ratsad and fled, threatening her not to tell anyone about the act. The girl reported the matter to her parents, after which they rushed her to a local hospital, where doctors referred her to the district women's hospital. Considering her condition, she was referred to Azamgarh Medical College.

Gadwar police station in charge Rajesh Bahadur Singh said that following initial treatment, the condition of the girl started improving on Tuesday evening.
