Mexico

Mexico is located on the North American continent, and is bordered by the USA on the North, Guatemala to the South, the Pacific Ocean to the West, and the Atlantic Ocean to the East.

Region
Mexico is located in a desert-type region, but also has elements of a tropical region. There are points where the it is mountainous, therefore, making it colder.
People
Mexico has a population of 111,211,789 people. 10 percent of all Mexicans can be characterized as belonging to the upper class. The middle sector comprises approximately 30 percent. The remaining 60 percent of Mexicans make up the lower sector, itself a heterogeneous group of industrial workers, informal-sector employees, and peasants. Mexico is made up of 60% mestizos, 30% Amerindian, 9% white, and 1% other.
Economy
Mexico has both an industrial and agricultural economy. The country depends on certain exports like food, beverages, and vegetables and tobacco. Their currency is the peso.
Government
Mexico has a federal republic. That means that in works the same way as the United States government. A president is elected to lead the country and laws are made by a congress-type power. Unlike US presidents, the president of Mexico spends 6 years in office, and can serve only 1 term.
Mexican Flag
The green on the Mexican flag represents the independence, the white stands for unity, and the red stands for the blood spilled for Mexicos independence. The eagle represents where Tenochtitlan was built. The Aztecs were told by their gods to build a city where they encountered an eagle perched upon a cactus, devouring a snake.
Cultural
There are many important holidays that are exclusive to Mexico. They include Dia de los Muertos, which celebrates and honors the dead on November 1st and 2nd. Another important holiday is Dia de la Independencia, which is celebrated on September 16 and is the equivalent of July 4th for USA.
