Observation Task 2: Teaching A Phonics Lesson

The phonics lesson focused on the letter D. [1] The teacher introduced the sound of D through a song, picture of the letter, reading a book with words starting with D, and a video demonstrating the sound. [2] Students then practiced the beginning sound of D in small groups through an activity making daffodils. [3] Next, the teacher modeled writing uppercase and lowercase D, and students practiced forming the letters. [4] To reinforce the lesson, students were engaged in different activities like play dough or writing D in groups, and learned how to write and identify the beginning sound of the letter D.
