component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal
mechanism.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and
Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect
and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and
mandates.
1. Drain the fuel tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and
Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities".

2. Remove bolts (2) and disconnect harness assembly (3). Tube assembly (1) will be removed
when the fuel tank is lowered enough to clear the flange on tube assembly (1).

3. Disconnect hose assemblies (4) and (5).

4. Remove bolts (7) in order to separate transmission oil cooler (6) from fuel tank (8).

5. Remove bolts (9) and ladder assembly (10).

6. Position Tooling (A) under fuel tank (8), as shown. The weight of fuel tank (8) is approximately
227 kg (500 lb).
7. Remove bolts (11) from both sides of fuel tank (8). Use Tooling (A) to carefully remove fuel tank
(8) from the machine.

8. Remove sensor assembly (12) and breather (13) from fuel tank (8).
