Critics Consensus

A tart comedy that Saoirse Ronan's terrific performance polishes into something humane, Bad Apples has an unsettling darkness that worms its way through an otherwise playful satire of the education system.

Jonatan Etzler’s school satire is darkly hilarious and politically sharp — as satisfying as a crisp Granny Smith. Saoirse Ronan has never been better walking its riveting moral tightrope.

In this darkly comic thriller, teacher Saoirse Ronan loses it and takes drastic action against a rotten 10-year-old student who’s spoiling her whole classroom bunch.

A sharp, twisted, dark, daring, and wickedly funny satire about the murky spaces where morality bends to convenience.

The meat of the film comes from the various ways we see the fallout from Ronan’s actions as a teacher who inadvertently makes things better with one drastic move. All of this makes for a solid dark comedy that hopefully gets more eyes on it.

While the idea has potential the general ineptitude and unrestraint of Bad Apples is less of a satisfying crunch and more of a soft, mushy disappointment.

I wish they decided to solve Danny permanently at the PTA meeting haha Then it would be a higher rating, because that would be a brave step for this movie to take. Also Pauline may have been explored more, in context of the teacher and her inner world.

One of the worst movies I have ever watched. Not funny, boring and ridiculous.

Bit dark, not sure if I liked as it was slow in some places. Definitely not a fan of Pauline
