Drummer Boy is too earnest for how baffling many of its choices can be and how less-than-competent much of its storytelling is. Go to Full Review

Clunky in places but with strong underlying bones to its story and performances, Drummer Boy is elevated by a well-crafted production, even when its music and characters verge on dull. Go to Full Review

Yet, it’s the musical interludes that undo the film. The artificial nature of these moments and the melodramatic tone of the songs clash with the genuine nature of the dramatic scenes to disastrous effect. Go to Full Review

A mildly engaging, but overlong, clunky, dull and shallow musical love story that awkwardly combines romance, war, drama and musical numbers. Go to Full Review

DENISE 47 min ago Angel Ministries production of Drummer Boy was absolutely amazing—a powerful, heartfelt story with a message our country desperately needs. What touched me most was the relationship between two brothers who held opposing beliefs about what our country should stand for. Their differences divided them, but when it mattered most, they defended one another. Beneath their convictions and disagreements, there was still love—and that love brought them back together. That is what makes this production so meaningful. It reminds us that we can stand firmly in our beliefs and still recognize the worth of the person on the other side. We can disagree and still protect one another. We can choose compassion, forgiveness, and family over division. I left thinking about how much our nation needs that same healing. These brothers found their way back to each other through love, and there is a lesson in that for all of us. Bravo, Angel Ministries, for a beautiful production that touched my heart and gave me hope. Drummer Boy is a story worth seeing—and a message worth carrying home. See more
