Meet the Cat in the Hat you don't know! In the wonderfully whimsical tradition of Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat comes to the big screen in his animated theatrical feature film debut, an all-new, epic adventure with an edge, where mischief, magic and mayhem reign supreme. Doing what he does best, the Cat--voiced by Bill Hader--spreads joy to kids in his hilarious, signature and singularly irreverent way, transporting them and audiences on a fantastical journey through a world they've never seen before. In the film, our hero takes on his toughest assignment yet for the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC): to cheer Gabby and Sebastian, a pair of siblings struggling with their move to a new town. Known for taking things too far, this could be this agent of chaos's last chance to prove himself... or lose his magical hat!

A cat that once stood in for children’s unchecked ids has been turned into something closer to a fairy godfather. And the movie doesn’t have enough rhymes.

Hader's The Cat In The Hat is certainly better than Myers'. But so is plucking out my nose hairs with needle-nose pliers.

But there is nothing Seussian about this movie besides the fact that someone at his estate greenlit this hot mess. You can replace the Cat in the Hat with, say, a Pig in a Wig, and the outcome would be the same.

The Cat in the Hat returns, and while it's not a direct adaptation of the book and takes serious creative liberties with the author’s work, the film is surprisingly magical.

For all its visual flamboyance, “The Cat in the Hat” has surprisingly little of the spontaneous creativity or mischievous spirit that made Dr. Seuss’ work so beloved in the first place.

Its hectic bombardment of noise and phantasmagoria goes beyond wearying to come close to unendurable.
