International Karate Daigaku Examination Syllabus for Shodan (1st Dan) Pre-requisite for all ages: three months

hs after first kyu with a minimum B attendance. Member in good standing with a valid IKD Passport (When available)

Kihon arm techniques: 1. Moving forward: sanbon-zuki in zenkutsu-dachi 2. Moving back: soto uke in zenkutsu-dachi and yoko enpi and uraken uchi in kiba-dachi 3. Moving forward: uchi uke in kokutsu-dachi and kizami-zuki and gyaku-zuki in zenkutsudachi 4. Moving back: shuto uke in kokutsu-dachi and kizami mae-geri and jodan nukite in zenkutsu-dachi Kihon leg techniques: 5. Moving forward: chudan kizami mae-geri and jodan mae-geri in zenkutsu-dachi. Turn: 6. Mawashi-geri and uraken uchi and gyaku-zuki in zenkutsu-dachi. Turn: 7. Jodan or chudan yoko-geri keage and chudan or gedan yoko geri kekomi. Both kicks with the same leg. Turn: 8. Moving forward: yoko-geri kekomi and ushiro-geri in zenkutsu-dachi. Turn: 9. Mawashi-geri and ushiro-geri in zenkutsu-dachi. Major Kata: 1. One kata from: Tekki nidan, Tekki sandan, Bassai-dai, Kanku-dai or Jutte. Minor Kata: 2. All kata: Heian shodan, nidan, sandan, yondan, godan and Tekki shodan. Kumite against one opponent: 1. One minute of jiyu kumite defence only. 2. One minute of jiyu kumite offence only. Main points of examination. Ability to demonstrate: 1. 2. 3. 4. High degree of correct application of power from the seika-tanden. High degree of speed of technique. High degree of body expansion and contraction. High degree of Ki - Expression of feeling with mental and physical energy.
