Pilgrim Guide

The large bell seems to signify them as once leader of a climbing troupe, though the Haunting has erased that former authority.

Pilgrim Guides are enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. They are old pilgrims who carry a heavy iron bell staff, once the leaders of climbing troupes before becoming Haunted.[2]
Behaviour and Tactics
Pilgrim Guides naturally walk when idle, except for the one in Greymoor who is leading a prayer. Once Hornet is in range, they use either of the following attacks:
- Double Bonk: Slams their staff at Hornet, pausing for a moment, then performs another slam. Moves forward with each slam.
- Jump Slam: Jumps either backwards or forwards and slams their bell staff down as they land.
Pilgrim Guides deal ![]()
with their bell staff, but only
on contact.
As for counterplay, baiting out their attacks and striking during the downtime is the best strategy, since they have a short cooldown between attacks and leave many openings.
Act 3
Black-threaded Pilgrim Guides have their health quadrupled. They can gain any of the standard void attacks.

Location
Two consistently respawning Pilgrim Guides can be found in the middle of Greymoor, east of Halfway Home. After defeating Shellwood's Covetous Pilgrim, a Pilgrim Guide can be found in the room it previously occupied, alongside a Pilgrim Bellbearer. A non-respawning Pilgrim Guide can also be found in the Marrow's jail, but only before Loddie's minigame is set up. In Bonegrave, one Pilgrim Guide can spawn as an enemy variant upon revisiting the area. Inside the Chapel of the Wanderer, one is encountered as part of the gauntlet.
During Act 3, a Pilgrim Guide can be found in Shellwood attacking Pinmaster Plinney.
