Carver Hatcher
Are these creatures the mothers of the dirtcarvers? They appear only loosely related. But then how do the dirtcarvers get inside of the hatchers? A confusing situation.
Carver Hatchers are enemies in Hollow Knight. They are flying creatures who spawn Dirtcarvers when prey is nearby.[1][2]
Behaviour and Tactics
Spawns Dirtcarvers while hovering above the Knight, tries to back away and evade when the Knight gets close.
It is best to take care of this enemy first in a fight, as otherwise, it continues to spawn enemies and makes the fight more difficult.
After spawning five Dirtcarvers, it starts swooping and chasing the Knight to bite them. While doing so it starts to emit a gurgling sound. At this point, it will no longer spawn Dirtcarvers.
