Moss Charger

It's small, but it finds a lot of courage and strength once it covers itself in foliage. And I can understand the desire to camouflage oneself...

Moss Chargers are enemies in Hollow Knight. They are small, timid creatures who try to scare off predators by covering themselves in moss.[1]
Behaviour and Tactics
Hides until the Knight enters its territory when it emerges from the ground and charges at them. Upon being hit, the leaves fall away, revealing a small bug inside that flees to one end of the platform to burrow away, waiting a few moments before re-emerging again, covered in leaves, attempting another charge.
The first hit only knocks the leaves off its body, so it is advised to use a Nail hit and not waste SOUL on the first attack. Afterwards, it flees quickly away from the Knight, so it is best to follow up with a Spell such as Vengeful Spirit/Shade Soul or by using the Dash Slash Nail Art. It is necessary to kill the small bug within as that is the only way to prevent it from re-forming into the bush.
The Knight can hit the Moss Charger just before it reaches the edge of a platform to either throw it into the acid or make the Charger stuck if it lands without enough platform to burrow back into.
On a long and flat platform, the sight of small leaves flying into the air even when the Knight is not on it is usually the telltale sign of the presence of a Moss Charger.
